Disasembling Kahr PM9

Is there any special trick to getting the slide stop out? Instructions say to retract the slide about 3/4" or until the recess in the slide lines up with the slide stop pin, then use a plastic mallet to tap out the slide stop. I've temporarily given up. I can't get the thing to budge.

Any ideas?

A plastic mallet should do the trick. Any chance the magazine is still in the gun?

The first few times you take out the pin it's going to be pretty difficult. Provided the magazine has been removed and the witness marks are lined up, you may have some success if you use a plastic tool handle or convenient table or counter edge to push against the protruding pin on the opposite side of the slide. A firm push works much better than tapping.

After about a half dozen times doing this, you'll be able to push the pin through by hand on the plastic models. The steel models pretty much require some help pushing the pin out every time.

I remember wondering what I was doing wrong the first time I tried to disassemble my PM9, but it turned out that this was one of those times that enough force does solve the problem--just make sure you've got the marks lined up! Hope this helps.

I've used a screwdriver handle, coffee table round corner, and tv remote to get mine out.

After about 6 or so range sessions (with a take down and cleaning after every one) I can push the pin through with my thumb far enough to pull it out the rest of the way on the other side.

With the Kahr, you have to get the slide in EXACTLY the right spot.

99% of the time, disassembly problems are caused by NOT getting the slide in exactly the right spot, and the "right" spot can be as close as 1/16" in either direction.

Got the slide stop out......

with a minimum of effort, and no thanks to the Kahr manual. It turns out to be exactly like someone suggested earlier. If you don't have the slide located correctly, it ain't comin' out. Thanks to all for the help.

i have the pin out, now.....

On the PM9 i have the pin out and now I cant get the slide to come off, what do I do?

Put the pin back in if you are not 200% sure you've unloaded it and check!

You have to pull the trigger as the slide comes forward, then it slips right off.

Just anything hard to push it out. Don't need to hammer it out. Also, try moving the lever up and down a little while you push.

As has been noted, make sure that the witness lines are lined up exactly. I push mine out using a hard tabletop. It gets easier over time.

Also, to remove the slide you must pull the trigger, so make 1000% sure that your weapon is unloaded.

I found the instructions in the Kahr manual to be easy to follow, just make sure that you are following the correct set since page 14 has instructions for the K series and page 15 for all the others, including the PM9.
