Disassemble Win 74

I need a little info on disassembling a Win 74 please. It's been a while... I know I'm supposed to put an allen wrench or small screwdriver into the cross bolt in the rear of the receiver, but the bolt still does not want to come out. If I were holding it like I was going to fire, would the bolt go left or right? Is there something else I'm supposed to do?

Yep ! A few decent Winchester 74 videos on the youtube network. I have two of the 74's. Both come apart easily. Other than pushing the spring loaded button on the side, don't forget to move the safety switch over to allow the bolt to come out the back. That is the only thing I can think of specifically you might be doing.

The clearances are pretty close between the receiver and the removable insert. Years of crud and possibly some rust could prevent removal. Saturate the area with Kroil and let sit a few days before trying again.
