While detail cleaning my k31, I noticed the trigger parts look a bit dirty. The trigger is smooth, but I think a good cleaning is in order, perhaps even some polishing. Does anyone have info on disassembly of the trigger parts? Are there any specific tools needed? Can you recommend a good trigger lube?

I am in the process of making a "marksman" k31-basically accurizing and scoping one with no permanent modifications. Today I am continuing an extensive bore cleaning (the bore cleans easily, but I want to remove all traces of copper/nickel fouling), installing a cheek rest, repairing a buttstock screw hole, and shimming the hanguard to free float the barrel. Later this week I will receive an offset scope mount and a 2.5-10x AO mildot scope. Next week Ill shoot:D

I've not seen a manual for one. You can do two things.

Most basic is get a can of brake cleaner and flush the housing/parts off, then lube in place.

More in-depth, if I remember right you can unhook the outside arm of the spring, and if you're careful can work the trigger/sear/link assembly out.

One hole

If you do all that to a K31 there wont be a safe deer anywhere in your county. :) Those rifles are accurate even with the open sights.
And do down load the manual. It's a pretty good size, but it is worth the time to download and print it.

I took my K31's trigger apart and cleaned it with a toothbrush and mineral spirits. The only lube I used was FP-10. Any gun oil would be good. It didn't need any polishing, cleaning it and lubing it alone made a huge difference. It was really simple to take apart and reassemble.

You can free float the barrel by simply relieving some wood from the inside of the barrel channel at the muzzle end of the stock. The barrel floats in most of the stock until the end as it is.

You might want to experiment with a little upwards pressure on the end of the barrel vs. fully free floating. Sometimes long barrels like that better.

I ended up polishing several of the triggers surfaces, and it lightened the trigger pull from about 4lbs to 2.5 lbs.
The tasco mlldot scope is holding up well, but it does not track (im not suprised, it will end up on a .22) so I have a bushnell 3200 10x mildot in the mail right now.
I am considering bedding and free floating the gun, but only as a last resort.
