Would any of you happen to know what company in Italy manufactured the “Lancaster” .45 caliber flintlock rifle that was sold through Dixie Gun Works?

The one I was looking at was made in 1982 according to the Italian firearm year code “ AI.”

Thank you for your time and information.

Take the barrel off and look for a makers mark on the bottom. Pedersoli made some in the 70's but they're marked dp on one of the upper barrel flats. DGW imported guns and kits and parts from different manufacturers from all over.

I've got one that I bought probably 45 years ago buried deep in a gun safe somewhere. I never was sure who the manufacturer was, but I never could get that flintlock to fire reliably. I eventually converted it over to percussion. Now I wish I left it alone, I could probably get it working with what I know today. The rifling was very shallow, and it just had a touch hole, no liner. Not a bad looking gun but I don't think they were the greatest quality.

It looks like a CVA lock to me. Most likely it was made in Spain. Don't remember off hand who the maker was.

Definitely made in Italy, not Spain. I haven’t even looked at mine in years, but I am thinking maybe Palmetto arms? That looks like the original lock to me.

I hope it's an L&R, but looks exactly like the original on mine. I've often thought of looking for another lock that would be close enough to fit.

Well, I dug mine out! Palmetto arms manufactured, mine is a 1980 date code. That is the original lock for sure on yours. I was talking to someone who had one that was a good sparker, mine may have just been a lemon.

Let us know when you get that rifle RWMC. First flintlock I ever bought and still have a soft spot. I'd probably get another if I had the chance.
