Does coating a frame's slide rails with DLC help as far as wear and tear, or the moment the slide cycles the DLC will be ecrapped right off? I've heard that cerakote comes right off as soon as the slide cycles, but haven’t heard anything regarding DLC.

DLC, when properly applied, will be much more resistant to abrasion than any of the spray on coatings.

Make sure it cycles 100% if its a ccw you are coating, the added material could alter the frame-slide fit and could mess with the cycling process.
Other than that the barrels I have that are DLC coated show minimal wear, much less than traditional bluing, etc. DLC is some tough stuff
