I have a Savage .243 with the AccuTrigger and AccuStock. Bought it for varmints and predators only. Since then I purchased an AR15 and installed a Timney trigger and it is super accurate(so is the .243). I also have a 6.5x55, .270, 30-30, 30-06, .22 and .22mag. My issue is I have been laid off and money is pretty tight. Is there anything the .243 will do that my AR or 6.5x55 won't do if I load light bullets in the Swede? The .243 has a Vortex Viper 3x9x40 scope with Warne Maxima rings and bases. I've also only put a little less than two boxes full of shells through it in two years so it really doesn't get shot very much.

I like the 243. I also have some Swedes. Of your list, I would get rid of the 270 first. Unless it has sentimental value.

It does because it was the first centerfire rifle I ever purchased. It and my 6.5x55 are my two favorite rifles. Maybe I ought to sell the AR since my 16 year old has one also and I can always use it if I want. But on the other hand the Savage has a 22" barrel and I was going to eventually sell it and buy a Vanguard S2 in .243 because I prefer a 24" barrel and I really like the S2. I have one in 30-06.

Sounds like the 243 can go since you want to replace it somewhere down the road.

Ditch the 243. The 6.5 will do a better job on deer/black bear etc with less throat wear while your AR does the job on varmints and predators.

I have a similar line up and sold a very sweet .243 too. Flanked by an AR and a 6.6x55, it became redundant.

I keep a rather beat up Winchester Model 70 Featherweight .243 stashed in a distant outbuilding.
It is always there, always loaded and ready and has accounted for a number of coyote.
Another plus is EVERYWHERE ALWAYS has .243 ammo on hand.
Luck of the draw finding .,22s & .45s but .30/06 & .243 ALWAYS on the store shelves no matter where I happen to wander into and still cheap to purchase too.
I can still buy 40 rounds of .243 cheaper than 50 rounds of .32 or .380 acp
Go Figure....

When money was tight, I always got some money from selling some of my guns. yes, they lose value, but it turns them to cash when you ned them. In the long run, I bought a number of them back, like my Glock 19 and CZ75B.

I'd get rid of the 30-06 first since you already have a 270. Otherwise I'd get rid of the 22mag and then the 243. 243 is good for medium game and varmints. 223 will do anything a 22 mag will only better. 30-06 is overkill for anything smaller than elk.

too many more sensible/better rounds below and above a .243. not a bad round, I own lots of rifles and the .243 is one I haven't ever considered buying.

I would also ditch the .270 only because it is one of my least favorite calibers.

Will selling the 243 or any of your rifles bring in enough money to make a difference? I looked into selling some of my firearms when money was needed and each time I would have taken a big loss and the money wasn't enough to help. Taking temp jobs has always been a better choice for me to get out of a bind than selling any of my firearms
