Now that SCOTUS passed on the recent 2nd Amendment gun cases are there any waiting in the wings to be next in line to take the chance at being granted cert? I was under the belief that once a case is not granted cert you cannot bring it back up to SCOTUS.

I try to follow this topic. Yesterday I checked pending petitions and din not see any 2A cases among them.. however, i could have missed one. Considering that SCOTUS just turned down ten 2A petitions it is probably going to have a chilling effect on new petitions.

Or not. SC gets around 8-9 thousand petitions per session, and can only hear a few hundred. The process of granting certori is a winnowing of that load. The SC tries to only consider cases with considerable Constitutional impact.

Which is complicated for people with a considerable investment in the outcome of the cases turned down. Which can be as frustrating as the cases which are not brought.
