Do you have a favorite pistol(s) that shoots better than anything else?

This Ruger New Model Blackhawk in 45 Colt is 22 years and I don't know how many hunts old. Like me, he has some wear on his finish but his heart is still good. This revolver carries the marks of good times past and the hopes of good times to come. It will go to my sons when I am either gone are unable to enjoy it. It doesn't look like an heirloom but it certainly is to me.

It’s almost embarrassing to say that my Heritage Birdshead with the .22WMR cylinder is an absolute tack driver(even out to 40yrds).
It might be the 3.75” barrel with hardly any recoil that does it.

i think i get impressed more if a larger caliber tears out the red bullseye and less impressed if i have a lot of shots in the bullseye with a 22lr. but generally i consider my 2 les baer 45acp 1911s to be my most accurate as well as the 2 44 magnums a 7.5 ruger srh and an 8 3/8 smith model 29.

I've owned about 80 firearms. Of those, the memorably accurate include;
Colt Woodsman, see post 23
Beretta 84f
HK P2000sk
HK USP Elite
HK P7, see post 3
Canik TP9sfx, see post 24 sort of.

I have two, and they both relate to having a long sight radius and good trigger:

  1. Ruger Mk. II Target model. (22 LR) This is the one with the tapered 6-7/8" bull barrel. These days, it is failing to extract, which I'll have to look into. Probably needs new extractor claws, as it has been through many thousands of rounds. I shoot this one as well at 25 yards as I do a combat pistol at 7 yards.
  2. Ruger Redhawk, in 44 Mag, 7.5" barrel. I scoped it for deer hunting once, but I prefer the iron sights for any other type of shooting. I like to stoke it with handloads with a light, flat point, copper-plated bullet and a charge a bit stronger than 44 Spl, but not nearly at 44 Mag level. Magnum primes & cases, of course. This gun's SA trigger is OK, but its DA trigger is quite nice. The Super Redhawk is the opposite (as it probably should be, for a hunting gun) Too bad the SRH is so darned ugly. ;-)

This one makes me look the best... 1950 model Colt Woodsman Match Target. Everyone that shoots it falls in love with it.

My woodsman was made in 1938, and is easily the most accurate pistol I own.

Maybe Colt will start making the Woodsman again -- if so, I'm buying two!!

The one that never stops impressing me is this LC9s. I shoot it just as well as all my full size handguns. Way better shooter than you would ever except from a pocket pistol.

Mechanically my Victory 22 is probably the most accurate. However my favorite is my Blackhawk. Unsupported I shoot the Blackhawk a little better. Off a rest the Victory is the winner.

I like shooting the Blackhawk more and it draws more attention. Full power 357 wakes some folks up when everyone else is shooting 9mm.

I have a 1911 I built (using the word loosely) for what I called 25 yard back yard bullseye. It’s easily the most accurate one I have but it was purpose built.
Next would probably be my S&W 25-2, but that’s more of guess than anything.

I don't have pretty pictures to prove it but today I shot my Ruger SR9c along side my SA 1911 9mm and the Ruger printed better groups yet again.
My favorite semi-auto to shoot is my 1911 but I have out shot everything every time with my SR9c. I don't know why it shoots so well, but It does so every time I take it out.

Canik METE SFT Pro. It'll literally put rounds through the same hole, using 10 cent bullets.

Paper punching bores me to tears so extreme accuracy means nothing to me. Fun does. My most fun gun is also the least accurate gun I own. Not that it's not accurate because it is it's just not as accurate as the rest of them. Browning 1911 22.

Bottom right. With the 38 Super barrel in it, a 124Gr Sierra VCrown over a case full of N105 is hard to beat. With the 9mm barrel, 125gr cast/coated bullet over WSF right at 950fps stacks them just about as well.

Hi...
Lots of handguns live here but the one that shoots best is my S&W 686 Silhouette Model .357Magnum.
If I had to pick the next one it is probably a toss up between one of my BlackHawks in .41Magnum and my Dan Wesson stainless .44Magnum.
Of course, on any given day, it's more about me than any particular handgun.

I started shooting handguns in 1964 at MCRD Parris Island SC. Yes I'm old past the mid point of my seventh decade. Over the decades I've witnessed shooters very few at the 50Yd line, some at the 25Yd line with the majority at 10Yd line and under. Most of the better targets have been those shot from the bench rest. For myself in my younger days 25 &50 Yard Line from standing but as this is written mostly 10Yard line standing. That's what I've witnessed thus my perspective.

Depends on your definition of "shoots best".

If I want to take the head off a cotton mouth at 50yds, I have done it with this one, and can again as long as these eyes can still use those small sights:

If I want to point & shoot effortlessly or aim and nail a jug at 50 feet:

If I need to point and shoot a bad guy at 20 feet, my favorite to trust my life to this one ...

If I'm shooting a charging bear, I want this one...

I could also trust my life to this one if I ever carried it, but if it's just target shooting for fun and small groups on paper, then this one is my favorite...

I have a few accurate handguns, but this 1971 model Browning International Medalist takes the prize. I've also let several friends and family shoot it whenever the opportunity has arisen, and every single one of them out-shot their own guns with it. That last part has gotten to be pretty amusing. :)

I am convinced that the accuracy is a combination of the gun actually being super accurate, plus the grip design. The large, semi-open-hand grip initially feels very "unorthodox," but the hold is highly conducive to accuracy and consistency (which is likely why a lot of the highest-level accuracy competition pistols use similar grips).

Believe it or not but my favorite is my Polish P64, even with my huge hands it just fits. And even with the tiny fixed sights it's a tack driver. I joke about being able to point it straight up in the air and still hit the target in front of me dead center.

I did switch out the main spring with a #19 so the DA is not as heavy.

A Stainless Steel Ruger MKII , that was worked over by Clark Custom Guns in Louisiana .
it's nearly 20 years old now ... but the Clark Magic included a custom Clark Barrel , Clark Target Trigger job , Tuned magazines , Reliability Package , custom Clark Mount and Millet SP-1 red dot sight mounting ... the trigger just puts a smile on your face and a song in your heart .
My S&W Model 41 wishes it could shoot as well ... but it can't .

If the economy ever gets better ... I'm sending the model 41 to Clark Custom Guns and will let them work their "Magic" on it . That condition I suffer from ... Lackkamoney ...
... has flared up again !
