Do you like 1 expensive gun, or 2 less expensive.

Lately, I have taken money I could have used to buy another gun and put it into having work done on ones I already have. I enjoy having a couple of good handguns with trigger work, my preferred sights, front strap checkering on one, and other work that makes the gun all that it could be, rather than one more stock gun.. They worked fine out of the box, but now are that much better. Some of the guys I shoot with are beginning to appreciate the difference. Mark

I went through something like this but the other way. Had less expensive guns but was fien'n for a pricier model that I prefered. I accumulated enough of the less expensive guns to sell a couple a buy the one I wanted. I don't regret it.

If the expensive gun is filling a niche well now, I'd keep it. You can buy a less expensive model of the "other" gun you were thinking of when finances allow.

Now, one more thing. I have a friend, posts on this and other forums. He did a trade of a very nice pricier gun (a Posche, he said) for two less expensive, but still nice guns (Chevies, he said). $$$ wise, he came out ahead..but he does regret the trade.

Y'know, if I wanted to pull this many teeth, I woulda been a dentist..........

I'd rather have one indestructible gun that happens to be more expensive (my Sig 226) vs two "should always work but you never know" guns (my kel tec or MP40c).

I guess I have no idea where I want to go in my collection

I like the revolver idea for fun, but its half the capacity of the expensive gun. So whats the point ya know?

Capacity is NOT the end all/be all of the value of a handgun.

Expensive is relative. I have two 1911's valued at more than the average person's monthly wages. I also own quality revolvers that most anyone could come into by simply saving the money they'd spend on going out to dinner for a couple months.

Each has it's own purpose, and I can appreciate them for what they are.

If I had to make choices, I'd rather have one good, quality handgun than two mediocre examples of something else, especially if my only reason was just to have an example of something else. I find that anytime I sacrificed on quality or a feature just so I could come into a caliber, or specific example of a handgun, I never really warmed up to it or enjoyed shooting it as much.

generally, i'd rather have two $1.5k guns than one $3k gun, but i'd rather have a $500 gun than two $250 guns

Me 2.
Me 3.

I'll take, for instance, and CZ 75 over a Hi-Point and a Rossi .357, but I'll take that same CZ and a GP100 over a Kimber or Dan Wesson any day. Not that there is anything wrong with Kimbers, Wessons, or anything else, it is just that the extra expense doesn't bring characteristics that I think are worth it. But there are plenty of people who do think it worth it, luckily we can all choose our favorite guns.

Depends on what the deals are out their, and what one considers expensive. I purchased a Kimber S/S custom with match barrel ect., with less that 2 boxes of ammo thru it for $400.00, shortly after that purchased a Springfield S/S GI brand new in box with all papers encluding warrenty for $300.00. Total of course $700.00. Would I rather have them than one full retail price 1911, 45 acp, what do you think? Deals are still out there, just getting harder to find.

Right now looking at a period scope to put on a very slightly used model 52B winchester target rifle with bull barrel. If the deal goes thru I'll have a 52B with a Unertl 15x scope for $550 total.

Assuming you can afford it, save up and buy the gun you want instead of settling for two guns you don't. You'll enjoy it more. A while back I was at the range shooting my Les Baer Concept II. The guy next to me made the comment that he could never justify buying a Baer or other semi-custom. I noted though that he was shooting a G17 and a Beretta 92F which cost the same as my 1911. He would rather have his two, I would rather have mine. I don't think we would have been able to convince each other, people like what they like. But whichever camp you fall into be honest with yourself, don't buy a bunch of cheaper guns and claim that you can't afford the more expensive stuff.

I guess it depends on the price range

I'd rather have say, a Glock 19 ($500) and a used West German SIG P220/P226/P228 ($650-$700) than a $1200 1911

On the other hand, I'd rather have a $400 Rock Island 1911 than two Hi-Points

I would rather have a Glock 26 and a S&W M38 than any one gun of more cost that I can think of. Or a S&W 4" M13 & M38 than one expensive. I think each one of these fit a roll that while the 26 is close none can do the role of the others comparing accuracy, capacity etc.

Im sort of a Pistol Snob, American pistols arent for me, so if it doesnt say SIG or HK im not liking it, so for me its one expensive gun
