Like yes, Respect Definitely!!!

Yes, I like the AK platform but that’s driven more out of respect than trigger time. The weapon is reliable to which no other can surpass. Cheap to mass produce and simple to maintain. I personally like more accuracy at distance than most AK’s can produce but still would consider one for use in adverse environments if my life depended on it. Oh and yes I do own a couple (MAC 90and a Polish AK). Oh and lets face it their Lots of Fun! :D

I'll respectfully say "disinterested".

The AK is a fine weapon, not my cup of tea. It has +'s and -'s like every other rifle out there.

And no, I wouldn't go head to head with Larry in a 3-gun. I also seem to recall Kim Du Toit would likely put to shame many others who scoff at the accuracy of the AK platform. All this is proof that it is the operator, generally not the tool.

Like some wise guy said; "software > hardware"

I dislike them because all of the ones Ive held (never shot one) have felt very cheap and very small. They felt awkward to hold. Also, I like to support American made things.

a large number of parts on aks are made in the USA. most replacement parts for Aks are made in the USA. its hard to find anything really entirely made in the USA though. far too many companies just put their name on some garbage made in china or korea somewhere and try to pass it off as american made.remington does this for sure, just look on the back of half the stuff in walmart that says remington on it. not to get off topic but even john deer garden tractors are made in korea and alot of "domestic" automobiles are made in mexico and canada. It really makes me not want to support a company that is trying to trick me into believing something is american made. ive even heard parts of Leupold scopes are made in china somewhere and not all made in the USA. on of the best ive seen is on the XD, Springfield Armory USA, made in croatia. but to awnser the original question, yes i do like my ak.

You are aware that there are strict rules on what can and cannot be designated as "Made in the USA", "Assembled in the USA", or other such designations, right?

Some of Winchester's "USA" brand ammo is made in Israel or the Czech Republic, but it states so on the box. Quite a few of their offerings in the store do, in fact, say "Made in the USA" on them.

All of Remington's rimfire ammo, with the exception of some of their Remington/Eley mixed brand stuff are made in the US. I believe most, if not all, of their centerfire stuff is made in the US too. They may have somethings made in other countries, but it's far less common than you make it out to be.

Even with US-made stuff, where do you think a lot of the copper comes from? Sure, some from Arizona no doubt, but Chile is a major supplier of the world's copper. I'm sure a fair bit comes from Chilean mines, but is made into cartridge cases and jackets here in the US.

"Springfield Armory USA" is the company, who does make some guns here in the US. A lot of their 1911 frames are made in Brazil. Their XD is made in Croatia, yes, but it is clearly marked on the gun that it's made in Croatia.

A company's name doesn't necessarily reflect where their products are made -- "Seattle's Best" coffee is most assuredly not grown in Seattle. Look for markings on the product itself, rather than the company name.
