My buddy and I always joke about this. He likes his guns to be dark or flat black. Business like, he says.

I like guns that are shiny and pretty, like a polished hard chrome finish. I used to tell him I was gonna stop at Trak Auto and buy a can of that Chrome Paint and hit a couple of my guns with it. He would cringe at the thought. :p

I have a Colt King Cobra that I'd like to have bead blasted to a shiny finish. And a 12Gauge double-barrel Coach Gun with a satin nickel finish.

LIke the man said, "It's a minor compulsion. I can deal with it if I want to."

It's odd.....I like black autos and SS revolvers.....although nothing's as cool looking as an old blued revolver with some well placed wear.....I guess I like both....

Have a strong preference for blued guns or Springfields brushed black bluing. Even if it is well worn but rust free.

For hard chrome, stainless or nickle, I definately prefer brushed or matte to polished. Actually, I don't think I've ever owned a nickled gun.

How is this for shiny?

During the 1970's, ALL of my handguns were nickel plated, including a four inch SW 29. I just found nickel easier to clean. When stainless came out, I converrted a lot of my stuff. (Except for those few years where Bangor Punta made some horrible 629's. I went without a .44 Mag for about eight years until the version 5's came out.)

I did hear that southern sheriffs always chromed their shotguns. When exiting a patrol car with a bright shotgun, they said it had a 'quieting affect' on the crowd. I know it would get my attention!

Shiny!

Blued or Stainless. Momma always said it was important to look nice in case you needed to tend to some business. Plus...the chicks dig it.

I like tactical black, but the bluing started to show rust spots when I carried in deep cover. So I switched to stainless. I have to admit, it's growing on me.

For OTB, however, the darker the better!

Neither.

I like (love, actually) the looks of electroless nickel. My K9 came like that from the factory and I had my Kimber electroless nickel plated by EABCO.
Something about that matte silver finish makes me happy.
This stuff is wear resistant and protects from the elements quite nicely. I couldn't be happier with the service I've had out of these finishes... it's about as perfect as a finish can get!

I also have a thing for deep blued revolvers, especially those found on Pythons.

I'm indifferent beyond that; I suppose I like all other finishes about the same.

CCW shiny? No!
I like the Blue/Black finish on my Sistema and the muted blue on my S&W 586 and 13.

Keeper shiny????Well you decide...

Not mine but I need, yes that is NEED, one. 8 3/8 Mod 27-2

I like shiny guns and matte guns, nickel guns and stainless guns, blued guns and parkerized guns, Black-T'ed guns and engraved guns.

Mostly, though, I just like guns. :)

My GP100 is shinyish, my USP9C is very not shiny.
And I plan on getting a two-tone or stainless SIG.....so I'd have to say that black has a certain functionality that appeals to my mall-ninja heritage. :)

Those are all sweet, just like girls, hard to pic just one.
I have both kinds, 357 black Desert Eagle, and just got an Anaconda 44 brushed stainless, 4 in barrel. The colt is sweet.

Not really. Shiny guns -- at least the silvery nickel type -- remind me of the cap guns I used to play with about 35 years ago. I realize that it is totally illogical of me, but as a result, all of my guns are blue/black.

I've only 1 nickel gun, a S&W J frame. I bought it from a friend who needed the $. I also have a bright polish stainless Colt 1911. When it was delivered, I thought there had been a mistake as I didn't want a nickel gun. I removed the slide and sure enough, no copper undercoating and it had the dull look of stainless.
