My m4a3 bushmaster is called betsy (the G/f named it)
My benelli supernova is named leroy
My cz 75 SP01 is named tungston
My CZ97b is named something that I can't recall (gf named it :D)
The cz 75 22lr conversion is named cricket.

Some have nicknames

Usually having something to do with the maker, the model number, the caliber, or just because of something about them. Others I just call by their real names. So there is the Blackhawk, the Vaquero, the Colt, the Smith, etc, and others like the Swede, Webster (webley), The Tokarev and others.

Sweaty Betty is a SMLE No3 that oozes oil from the stock after spending time in the sun.

Killdeer is a remington .308, because, well, it has.

Lupe is a 12ga coach gun, with hammers.

Alice is a Browning BDA .45...don't ask.:p

I named my LeMat Navy

"Fidelity", because it is a faithful gun and will serve me like a great Labrador Retriever serves the upland hunter.

Yeah, I have a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 colt. It has a 7.5" barrel.:D Before I learned how to hold a big bore handgun, it used to tear up some knuckles. That was with the hunting loads. 22.5 gr of Lil Gun pushing a 240 XTP. Hoping to drop a whitetail with it before the season ends with it. I've given it the name THE PUNISHER!
tommy

I have names for all of my guns. Also my car and motorcycle.

Firefly--Taurus 605---from the muzzle flash the first time I shot it.
Flea--Kel-Tec P3AT---small but can be very annoying to others.
&%*@kicker--my 12 ga---need I say more...:D

Just a few examples.

I was inspired by a Marine friend of mine who named his Remington 870 "Evil Cheesecake." Never fully understood why, exactly, but it amused me enough that most of my guns, except for two, are named after food:

Century Arms L1A1 --- Killer Brownies
Ruger P345 --- Amaretto Whip
Springfield 1911--- Quiche Lorraine
Winchester Defender 1300 --- Truffles
Ruger 22/45 --- Tater Salad
Ruger 10/22 --- Pickles
Kimber Pro Eclipse II -- Veal Francoise

The ones without names are the Dan Wesson .44 and a 20-year-old cosmetically used-and-abused Taurus PT-99.

It would be cool to have a pair of high-end 1911s - like STIs - and call one "Death" and the other "Rebirth",

If anyone gets the allusion to NGE then PM... anime enthusiasts unite!

Nope, not even in the Army. Although I have been known to refer the Maverick 88 that's had some parts replaced with Mossberg parts (from a PGO to a Mossberg wood stock, however it still has the synthetic black plastic forearm) as either "Mossenstein" or "Frankenvrick".

Well then if my guns were dead and buried, the tombstones would read:
Lucky 7 (S&W 686+)
and
Glockey* (19C)

* Yes, pretty lame name for such a sweet gun but had to keep the name after seeing the look on my husband's face after he asked what I was gonna call her. She's new -- may re-name her Sparky after the impressive fire that come out of her ported slide . . .:D

I got some more names and pics.

Here's Guido

Diane, my AK, is being overhauled, so no current pics of her yet. When she is done, she'll be quite black and scary looking  Here's Diane before the facelift.

Ok; Some of you will grok, and some of you will look at me like I've grown an extra head. I have named a few of my guns, but others have TOLD me the names they already had. The ones that have told me thier names are all older military pieces.

Moira, my 1918 LE #1 MkIII* with Irish Free State markings.
Madigan, my 1909 LE #1 MkIII
Mathilda, my 1909 LE #1 MkI***
Silé, my #4 MkII "Irish Contract"
Annie, my M1 Garand
Bonnie a 1910 MkIII Ross
Patricia, a LE #2 MkIV .22 trainer.
Parvati, my 1946 Ishapore #1 Mk3*

A few of the ones I named myself:
"Mith Ang Iant" or "Gray Iron Shadow" in Tolkien Elvish. An electroless nickle Colt Mk4 Ser. 70 Gov't Model in 45ACP.
Sigrune, meaning "Rune of Victory" is my Sig 229 in .40 cal.
Rylla and Dalla, my Colt Official Police revolvers.
Destiny, a S&W M27 with 3.5" Bbl.
Bidget, a Colt Det. Spec.
Jesus, pronounced "Hay-soos" a 1954 LE #5 "Jungle Carbine". The name came from both the initials "JC" for jungle carbine and the exclamation shouted by newbies who experienced the lusty recoil of .303 Brit in a light rifle for the first time.

Like SMLE, I found that names just come to me for some cars and guns and tools and knives.

Some don't have names --I guess those particular inert metal things don't have the right "spirit," though they are functional enough.

I began using their names when I was a kid (circa 1946) and started a collection of BB guns.

Those were the days when BB guns would in fact shoot through both sides of a steel (not aluminum) can. I used to have to cock them by putting the muzzle on the tip of my shoe and push down real hard on the lever.

I have had cars whose names were Beauregard (Datsun 310GX), Janice (Chevy station wagon), Nymphie (Datsun 240Z), and Heinrich (Audi). Note I did not say I named them... their names came to me on their own.

The same thing with firearms. My Mossy 500 never told me its name. My 1911 screamed "Bruno" at me. My little .380 has been called "My W'il Fwend" for thirty years or more and has more road miles on it than most cars. My M1 carbine is "George."

My Detecive Special Snubbie is one exception to letting the name come to me, as opposed to deliberately giving it a name. I deliberately call it "My Fourth of July Gun" because of the blast and flash with +P ammo --like the 10" aerial salutes at the end of a fireworks display.

With "My Fourth Of July Gun," it doesn't matter whether I hit a miscreant or not. I figure the flash will blind him and the concussion will knock him down, and then I can run like hell.

Alll of my guns have names....I wonder how I can clean this up so it won't get me in trouble.....

One of my guns is a Taurus. Most of my friends know that when I am talking about CT I am talking about the Taurus. errrr.....Her first name is Clit........(I'm sorry I have a wicked sense of humor)

Editors feel free to delete this.    :D

I have not named my firearms, but

I once spent a month in the hospital with a few holes through my chest, one of my friends brought my a small button that said, " I am in touch with my inner child, and he's a mean little ------". Now we all use, "Inner child" as a code, in mixed company, to ask if one or the other is packin heat.

Some of my guns sort of have nicknames.
The sharps is "Old Reliable", of course. This is engraved on the barrel.
The break-open 12 gauge is called "the broomstick".
The PA longrifle is called "the bang stick".
The ar15 is called "the black rifle", so named by my youngest daughter, who one day hopes to shoot a coyote with it.
