I am an independent producer researching a documentary for cable television about young gun owners. Oleg has invited me to post here to see if anyone would be interested in participating. We are hoping to demonstrate the great diversity of gun owners throughout the country and the issues that have led them to choose to own a firearm today. We will be filming over the summer and into the fall. Among the characters we hope to find are a first time hunter, a young woman gun owner/hunter, competitive shooters, gun collectors. If are a young gun owner (16-30 years of age) and you have an interesting story or if you know of anyone who might be interested, please contact
[email protected] or call 212-229-9952.

Sounds very interesting. I'd like to see a program like that being that I am a relitively new shooter and relatively young (about to turn 28). There's too much junk on t.v. that portrays gun owners in a negative light. Is that a New York City number you've posted? I may have to contact you :)

Good luck on the documentary! Be sure to let us know how it is proceeding!

No "characters" here....just real people. :banghead:

The only problem I can see is if they used the footage to cast a negative light on things. Let us know when it airs, I'd like to see how it turns out.

anyone remember the heston color changing tie scene, be very careful, any thing you say can and will be (rearranged) and used against you.

I know that people are all up in arms about being treated badly, but, really, somebody has to at least try to show up and argue for our side, even if it is rigged. I'd much rather have Jim March or another fellow THR member on there rather than some ignorant yokel who wouldn't be able to argue well for our side even if it was a fair deal.

I sure hope Oleg isn't out to get us. that's why i am assuming it would be OK Oleg invited this guy here.

Ohmigawd - the webmaster out to scuttle his own ship? Nonsense. Oleg is dedicated to the cause and wouldn't invite someone here and endorse him unless Oleg believed the fellow was up and up.

I'd step forward, but I'm a grey hair dude and the youngsters don't wanna listen to a fat grey dude. ;)

I have an incredibly hard time imagining MTV doing an unbiased piece on gun owners. Oleg, would you clarify why you referred him to this board? What about him made you trust him?

I sent that guy an email asking if he could guarantee, in writing, that he won't pull a stunt on us like what happened to Jim March. If he responds, I'll post it verbatim here.

Someone needs to make sure Skunk hears about this. An oriental banjo playing hillbilly decked out in his black tactical BDUs with his black plastic rifles would fit right in on MTV.

I would be cautious, especially if MTV is involved.

The website is available at www.shadowboxfilms.com. A quick persual of their films indicates a focus on individual stories, but I sense a left-of-center viewpoint. If anyone is serious about participating, you should rent some of the movies.

Justin, we are extremely suspicious of the media, especially in light of the ambush tactics used by Comedy Central on Jim March, and the appalling hack job performed by Michael Moore.

We're not asking you to run right out and fill out the paperwork for a select-fire M4 assault rifle - we want you to be open-minded, willing to learn, able to listen, and be able to tell a good story.

Well if you need a minority, in his early 30's, let me know. I also shoot club matches (USPSA). BTW I'm Indian and work part time as an RO at a Houston range. My full time job is as a physical therapist assistant. I'd like to show the MTV crowd that you can be a normal individual and a gun owner.

Subject: Debate show- Second Amendment

Erika,

I'm a bit skeptical as to whether this show will be biased. It is well known in the Second Amendment community that MTV is biased towards guns and the news favors the liberal viewpoint.

That said, I'm socially liberal on all issues BUT gun rights, vothed for Clinton twice as well.

If the theme of the show is "average young people" batting about ideas and debate that's great, you would have better success contacting Gun Owners of America or the NRA to help select a candidate. I'm sure the Brady folks are supplying a candidate correct? Otherwise get Ted Nugent to argue with Sarah Brady.

This is an important issue I hope it will be a fair fight.

Brooks,
Thanks for your message. Our goal is NOT to vilify the pro-gun side at all – in fact, we expect to have a well-rounded group of people who have various opinions on the gun issue. Too bad you are in Texas and not CA.
Erika

She lies with such impunity....

Sigh.

Why is this thread giving me a sense of...panic?
