This discussion reminds me of the "oh well you'll need to attend 4-5 weekend classes a year and shoot at least 1K/month or you and your family will be certainly killed if ever attacked" stuff. Real world results don't match what everyone says should happen. Having a gun and being willing to use it wins almost every time in civilian encounters with criminals.
