Shotgun for home defense?

Hey, we had a ladder like that when we had a two story house. Watching us use it would have been hilarious. However, age and arthritis made us downsize to one story.

Rem Tac-14 hanging from the headboard by it's sling. It's loaded with a Rem Managed Recoil 00 buck in the chamber, followed by seven Aguila Mini buckshot shells in the tube.

Bird shot is for the birds. If it won't penetrate drywall, it won't penetrate the bad guy.
Use nothing smaller than #4 Buck. Not #4 Birdshot, but buckshot.

That said, using 3" Magnum shells isn't necessary. Get some 2 3/4" managed recoil, and you'll have faster follow up shots and perhaps fit an extra round in the tube. Unless your house is much larger than mine, your shots won't be that far. Even outside.

Star crimped shells are a bit shorter than roll crimped shells. This might help you get an extra round in the magazine.
