Friends-

I have tried to do my homework before I ask this question. I've Googled, and read past posts, but still I need to ask your opinions about a holster. One that truly conceals with a tucked-in shirt.

I have a Kimber Pro CDP II and need an IWB for true concealment. I wear a dress shirt and a tie every day, tucked in, with no coat or other garment. None of the holsters I've seen look like they will go unnoticed. Aker had a good one, with a belt loop that I could hang a key fob or watch from to cover-up the loop, but I think they no longer carry this.

Any suggestions? The Smartcarry does not appeal to me. Perhaps I need to go with a fannypack or a nice CCW portfolio or briefcase? I'd really prefer a holster, though.

Thanks

Either get a very small pocket pistol, wear a coat with your shirt or stick it in your portfolio. Belly bands might work too, if you're not overweight like most of America.

I carry a CZ Rami (about the same size) in a belly band cross draw. The butt goes right under the belt. Blouse your shirt a bit and no one knows it's there. There are a lot of tuckables, but you need to carry it either in front or behind the hip to be effective. I always thought that it looked like I was tucking a gun. It's a lot more hidden than what you think simply because you know that it's there.

Good question!

I'm surprised there AREN'T more options to suit your needs...since I've googled the same topic.

Here is a review of another product..that is pretty low in price...

Although the holster pouch does not look very structured...especially if the pistol has ambi thumb safeties for cocked-and-locked carry.

Good Luck!

Milt Sparks VM-II I wear it everyday.

I have worn it with a suit, with a tux, with just shirt and tie, worn to weddings, worn to outings, and all other places that most normal people would think odd to carry it.

Works great, feels great. Worth the wait, worth the quality.

Forgot to add get the Kydex tuckable clips and you have 2 holsters in 1.

it's tuckable, I have it, I really doubt anyone is going to see it, but if they look hard enough I would think it's findable, I've tucked but only really feel comfy if I am tucking a "bloused" shirt or heavy materialed shirt. If I am wearing a light shirt or light dress shirt I prefer something like a jacket or sweatshirt over it.

Oh, I am using a S&W M&P .40 full size.

I've got Tucker's "The Answer" for my full-size 1911. With a shirt tucked in over it, only the belt clips show. There are also a variety of different clips available so you can choose the clips best suited to minimize exposure.

I've worn mine to a wedding, under a dress shirt with slacks, and nobody noticed. With a good belt (I use a Liger) it's comfortable enough to wear all day.

I live in North Carolina. When I wear dress cloths.... it means a jacket. 32 degrees and 70 percent humidity, or 94 degrees and 96 percent humidity...... Dress means a jacket!!

If you can't wear the jacket you have to use some rig tucked under your shirt that will probably get you killed first when you start pulling out shirttails..... otherwise, smaller weapon in your pocket, or in a ankle rig. Again, the latter takes some time during which you will be the announced target.

I just suffer high dry cleaning bills and wear the jacket.

No one ever claimed going armed would be easy..... at least for the moment is it possible.

I use a Wilson Combat iWB holster holding either a Kimber or a Colt CCO. Absolutely, no concealment problem.

I have a similar problem. I have to dress for business, but work in Bullhead City where summer temps frequently top 120 degrees. During the winter it's not a problem because I can wear a jacket or a vest, but when it tops 110 and your shirts sticks to your body due to sweat there isn't a lot I can get away with.

Once it starts to warm up I carry a KelTec P11 in a pocket holster - wait, I'm not done.

A mouse gun does not instill confidence for me. So I carry a Kahr stainless MK40 Covert in a Pager Pal too.

The Pager Pal is not really readily accessible despite the maker's claims, but if I have a mouse gun to buy me time I can get out the .40. I carry one spare mag for the .40. That gives me eight rounds of .32, five rounds of .40 in the first mag with one up the pipe and six of .40 in the second mag.

Not as good as my hi-cap .45 I carry in winter, but you have to make compromises when you break out in a total body sweat between the truck and the front door of the office.

The SkyOps from Galco? Only reveals the tabs on the hooks that attach to your belt. I don't think it's a tell if it matches the color of your belt though. Just fluff your shirt a little bit over the holster.

Milt Sparks VMII here as well.
You do need to be on the thin side in order to get good results with a tuckable holster.

I'd settle for a smaller gun in a pocket holster over off-body carrying a gun.

If you're concerned about people noticing the holster's loop or clip on your belt then I'd recommend a Comp-tac C-TAC with the v-clips. Since the v-clips velcro to the backside of the belt there is no part of the holster showing at all, period.

This is not the answer you were looking for, but please bear with me for a minute.

I know you like your Kimber (my buddy loves his), so I'm not trying to talk you out of your personal preference.

But, I'm an old guy.. Been carrying cc (legally) since 1966. The ONLY firearm I have ever been able to cc daily without giving it a second thought is my Seecamp LWS32 in a rear pocket (wallet) holster. (RJ Hedley holster actually).

100_8017.jpg

If the thought of a 32cal. pistol for b/u to your Kimber makes you puke, you can upgrade (pricy) to the same pistol in 380cal. (LWS380.) Some folks still scoff at the 380rd, but it's served Europe (as has the lowly 32cal) for 75 or so years quite well. I should think 6+1 rounds of 32cal. or 380 cal. Gold Dot jhp's would make for a nice surprise to a bg should your Kimber run dry.

I'm not talking replacing the Kimber, I'm talking BACKUP to the Kimber. I will guarantee you there WILL be times you simply CANNOT take your Kimber, or any larger firearm, where you need to go, but you still CAN cc the Seecamp, right in your back pocket.

I have found I cc my LWS32 (LWS380 on order) all of the time... It's so light and easy to cc you just forget it's there. When I go out of my "comfort zone" I cc my 9mm Walther PPS in a FIST Kydex iwb. It's not a 45cal Kimber, but I think 7+1 rounds of 115gn "DoubleTap" jhp rounds would be an attention getter.

Additionally when my wife and I travel and I have both firearms on me I can always hand her the Seecamp if need be and we are both armed..

Again I apologize if you have no interest in this, but I just think a b/u to your primary weapon is a good thing.. :D

Best Wishes,

J.Pomeroy

Sounds like a lot of us have researched this subject. I have to dress business casual at work, no tie, but shirt tucked in, etc. I've tried holster shirts, which I didn't much care for, belly bands, which are miserable in the summer, ankle holsters, shoulder holsters, etc. My current choices are:

Wear a jacket. I hit up the local Goodwill every couple of months and find some great deals on barely used, even vintage, sport coats that I can tailor to the weather. I am also partial to the Duluth Presentation jackets, which allow freedom of movement.

Pocket carry. I currently have an airweight bodyguard that I can carry in some pants in a cheapie pocket holster. Am waiting to see what the new Ruger LCP looks like

Off-body carry. I know, I know, its not the best, but sometimes its the best I can do, at the moment.

I am interested in trying this holster from KL Null, Supposed to be able to wear under a polo shirt. http://www.klnullholsters.com/NewHolsters/skr.htm

Bottom line I have not found the perfect solution either.

I carry a Kimber Compact CDP in a Versa Max II. I have to clips to make it tuckable.
For me it is kinda hard to make this gun dissapear when I tuck a shirt over it.
I have seen PICS of people that are able to do it. Prob. has to do with your build or could have just been good camera work.
The gun I carry most the time now is a Kahr PM9. I have a tuckable Ultra Thin Kydex holster from FIST and this gun goes easily unnoticed when I tuck a shirt over it.
Im a hard core 1911 fan but I do highly recommend Kahr. The PM series comes in .45 and .40 if your not comfortable with the 9mm.

Folks,

Thanks very much for all of your comments. I've looked at the suggestions and I will try the Galco Sky Ops with a decent black leather belt.

This rig is for my new gun, the Kimber Pro CDPII. This will replace my SW 38 snub, which I've carried in a pocket holster for a year.

Again, thanks much!

I've got the SMZ from him for a 4" K-frame. Doesn't seem to work so well under a polo shirt. Under a dress shirt, absolutely - I think it's due, in my case, to the weight of the gun causing the strap over the back of the neck to ride up higher than usual. If you fasten the top button of your polo shirt, the problem goes away - and that strap's never visible. My rig's in white - but he has 'em in black, too. Concealment's excellent.

The Galco Sky Ops looks nice

Next time I'm at a Gun Show I'll have to check one out. The prospect of returning to the workplace is causing me to revamp my carry options and ideas.

I use a standard Uncle Mike's IWB holster for my Glock 26. You can tuck the shirt in everywhere except where the hook comes out to clasp onto the belt. That are is only about 3/4 of an inch wide. For that area, I roll the shirt under. I also pull the shirt out slightly from the waistband so that it remains tucked in but has enough loose fabric to cover any bulges that result from the firearm being worn under my clothing.

I wear this regularly when I have to go out in dress clothes but where I may have to take my jacket off. The only thing someone may see is the clip on your belt. If the belt is black and the clip is black however, it's pretty much unnoticeable (I figure if anyone asks, I'll either say it's an insulin pump or colostomy bag- then they'll leave me alone). I've worn this to many events and even cantored at a church with my clothing like this. There were no shocked faces or complaints. The people I hang around (artsy folks) tend to be quite alarmist and liberal, so weapons concealment is very important. Try my suggestion. An Uncle Mike's holster is only like $10-15, so even if you hate it, you're not out that much money.
