Does anybody hunt with sunglasses?

I wear the un-cool polarized sun glasses that fit over my perscription glasses. One thing, I have noticed that the optics can be poor on these "inexpensive" sun glasses. Try to read some fine print (with and without the sun glasses) and to see if they are clear as I doubt you'll be able to tell with normal kinds of things. The poor optics cause eye strain and reduces the clarity of your sight picture whether it be through a scope or with iron sights.

the woods I hunt are never bright enough to wear sunglasses-too thick in the summer/fall and not really bright here in the winter.

As a ski patroller I always wear sunglasses. I prefer smith optics and their interchangeable lenses. I have everything from clear to gold sol-x with a VLT of 7% for those really bright blue bird days. I used to get headaches after a long day outside, but no more. This habit has carried over to everyday life. No more "twack* in the eyes with thornbush while grouse hunting or hooks from low flying back casts.

I'm surprised no one mentioned or referenced contact lenses. I wear them, and myself and anyone I've known that wears them generally finds that they have the effect of "brightening" light. Consequently, I basically have to wear sunglasses when I'm out if the sun is also out. When hunting big game, or any hunting where binoculars come into play, it is a problem, a hassle. I either am regularly pulling off the sunglasses to use the binoculars or tough it out for a while and just take off the glasses so I can use binoculars regularly. Personnally, I've not found any binoculars that work while wearing sunglasses, regardless of what the manufacturers claim. So, yes I hunt with sunglasses, but if it weren't for the contacts, I wouldn't, at least not when binoculars are in the equation. Bird hunting and such, no problem, obviously.

About 75% of the time, I wear shooting glasses while I hunt. The ones I use have interchangeable lens so I go with the darker ones on sunny days. Works for me, but YMMV.

I can definitely seem the point about the potential problems that sunglasses might pose with rangefinders and binocs.

I always use sunglasses especially when out in snowy areas. They do require my removal when using optics or shooting though but the benefit is worth the extra hassle.

I hunt with sunglasses all the time. I couldn’t even imagine Dove hunting without them.

I've been wearing orange tinted sunglasses for years - the same tint in those cheapy "Hi-Def" sunglasses you see advertised on TV.
That tint "separates" colors so deer (which have a little red in their coat) stand out against the normal brown/yellow Fall background in these parts. That orange tint also has the same quality as yellow shooting glasses in that you can now see into shadowed areas that you can't see into with the naked eye. It brightens dark areas.

I don't just use them for hunting, but for everyday use - driving, etc. You really can "see more" when you wear that tint.
