I have been having google meltdown trying to find that article from I think the mid 80's. Either the New York Times or Wall Street Journal did on NFA guns. The scope or purpose was a discussion on the investment aspect of those guns.

Does anyone have a link and/or a copy of that article??

Thanks,

There were some magazines like Fire Power and Full Auto back in the 80s which had a lot of info.
Also the old Soldier of Fortune magazines, I still have the ones with Binladin being trained by the CIA. We will never learn will we. Kill your enemies don't train them and you can not buy friends.
Also as a note good ole president Ronnnie R was the one who put the kiboshi on class III manufactoring and importation to the USA unless for government contract.

Wasn't it the GCA 68 that put the breaks on importing machine guns?

Yes. That's why we have Pre-May dealer samples. After '68, NFA items could only be imported for military and police use.

If you wanted a foreign MG between 1968 and 1986, you had to demill it, import the parts kit and weld it back up as a civilian transferable MG.

Importation had already been closed of in 1968. Reagan had nothing to do with it.

Also, Reagan was unaware that the Hughes Amendment had been slipped in when he signed the F.O.P.A. into law.
