I recently downloaded all my AR's except for 1 my A2 carb. Ive decided to go in another direction since I was spending to much on ARs and gear and never being satisfied with the outcome afterwards. I fire rifles left handed and my first rifle was a romanian Wasr-10 highcap I got rid of it because it was rusting and the wood furniture had gotten tore up(which at the time being my first rifle I had no idea it could have been refinished) I probably put 3,000 rounds through it and I didnt know how to disasemble it so it never got a cleaning or even near oil in the entire time I owned it which is one of the reasons it was rusting.

The new direction I wanted to go in was a heavier caliber(so I could also use it in a hunting scenario more effectively), a rifle with less parts to take apart and repair the AR is in a way a simple desighn but Ive had to replace alot of parts over the years with the use I put into them. Ive owned an Imbel FAL but I could never get used to the gas system nor the internals.

I plan on getting 3 rifles then im done, im more of a handgun person. I have already decided on 1 of the 3 rifles Im going to pick up another Romanian Wasr-10 because its cheap easy to use and clean. Second, I was considering a M1a Socom 16 but I was wondering if the 16" barrel will throw off the balistics to much to be an effective deer rifle,so does anyone have any other suggestions im going to stay away from from the AR platform so no AR-10s nor anymore FALs. Are there anymore semi auto rifles out there worth looking at with above the 5.56 and up ?

I'm no expert here, so I'll just give you my picks. I have a Chinese SKS (Norinco) which is simple to maintain and very reliable. That is chambered for 7.62x39. I think that could be a decent deer gun at 100 yards or less. My other pick is the M1 Garand, which is chambered for 30.06. That would work for deer at 300 yards.

Since you mentioned the M1A, and you've had the AR, I figured you would want an autoloading rifle. I guess I'm just stuck on the military surplus guns with those wooden stocks.

But for the third rifle, maybe you want to consider a bolt action. You might look at the Remington 700 or the Savage 10. Those are both very accurate out of the box.
