Just wondering if any company made rifles that had barrels with the melonite treatment...

Several AR makers do. My 5.56 and 6.8 SPC are both this way. Not sure about. 308.

The new Glock carbine that'll be introduced at the next SHOT show will have a Melonite barrel. ;)

How about more info on what kind of 308.

I was primarily looking at a bolt action for hunting in rainy/harsh/near ocean environments, but a light semi will do. I will also be shooting it at a range and will not always let it cool down.

I started looking at stainless steel barrels, but read something that suggested they would are less suitable than regular blued barrels for rapid fire (not sure how true is that)...

POF-USA does AR's with nitrocarburized (Melonite/Tennifer) treated barrels. Their barrels are also sourced from Rock Creek with 5R rifling. Not necessarily a lightweight, but my 308 has been superb.

The .22LR dedicated AR-15 uppers by CMMG have Melonite barrels.

They are also extremely accurate, by the way.

Remington offers some stainless rifles with their proprietary TriNyte coating. The XCR TLR might be a bit on the heavy side for hunting (not a problem if you're in a tree stand) but it would do very well at the range.

In .308 try Patriot Ordnance Factory and LWRC.

They claim that the barrels have twice the endurance as chrome lined.
