Wondering if anyone here can give me a clue regarding Lasermax installation in a Glock 29 pistol. I just ordered a laser, and I want to know whether I will need to keep any of the parts of the original Glock guide rod (springs, etc.). The reason I'm asking is that my guide rod assembly exploded yesterday. I assume I don't need to buy a replacement, now that I have a Lasermax on the way.

Yes that is correct the Lasermax will replace your complete guide rod. That being said I would still have a spare in case the Lasermax breaks. And depending on how much you shoot I believe Lasermax recommends spring replacement after 5000 rounds, at least that is what is recommended for the G19 that I have outfitted with a Lasermax. YMMV as always.:)

Thanks for the help. This is a super-annoying failure. I've only had three Glocks, and two have had guide rod blowouts. I don't shoot that much, so I don't know why it happened.

I'm glad it happened in my bedroom and not while I was trying to defend myself. Funny coincidence, how it happened on a day when I was trying to make a decision about a Lasermax.

Is it possible to put different springs on the Lasermax? I'm shooting 1250-fps handloads with 180-grain Speer hollow points. Thinking it might be nice to use a slightly heavier spring.
