I have an 870 with a rifle sighted 20" smooth bore. I had the forcing cone extended moderately, about 2X. It was very rough from the factory. It looks like a mirror now. With a Pattern Master choke tube it will group 2 3/4" Federal 00 Tactical buckshot - all pellets - in 7-10" at 25 yds. I am very happy with that.
Using a Cyl or Mod cyl choke tube should I expect slug performance to be degraded because of the forcing cone extension? The chamber is for 3" but it will never see anything longer then 2 3/4" shells.
