Been encouraged by some folks to haunt the local gun shows to see if I can locate a factory engraved Lorcin 9mm. Held one once and the owner told me he gave $800 for it, which he said was really reasonable given the extensive engraving.Haven't seen any thus far, but as soon as I can find one at an affordable price, I'd like to look into a custom carry rig. Suggestions? No luck so far in the online auction sites. Who makes high quality leather holsters for Lorcin autos ? Thanks.

$800.00 for a Lorcin?

$800.00 for a Lorcin?

That seems a bit high to me,,,
Used Lorcins go for about $100 to $150 max.

Unless it was gold-plated before being engraved,,,
I believe the man you spoke to was fibbing just a bit.

Why do you want an engraved Lorcin?

That's like putting $10k of custom paint on a Yugo.

I doubt anyone makes high-quality leather rigs for a Lorcin because it's an extremely low-quality gun. So low that it's not actually legal for dealer sale in my state because of our Saturday Night Special law (based on melting point of frame material, which in Lorcin's case is a zinc alloy casting). Obviously you can argue that's a terrible law, and it is, but it's still a junk gun.

The engraving would cost more than the Lorcin, even if done with laser.

The holster you are seeking would cost more than the Lorcin.

Lorcins are NOT quality guns. The 800 dollar Lorcin guy is full of bovine fecal matter.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

I'm not an expert by any stretch, but it's always seemed to me that when it comes to scraping the bottom of the quality barrel, Lorcin and Jennings where about the worst quality out there. I would probably pay about 75$ max for a Lorcin, and even at that I wouldn't expect it to work with any sort of reliability.

$800 for a lorcin is astronomically over priced, regardless of engraving. Don't trust your life to a Lorcin. Save your money and something much, much better with come along.

No his wasn't gold plated. Engraving all along both sides of the slide and down the frame. Sort of a leaf motif as I recall. Does Milt Sparks make a Lorcin holster or one of the less costly makers like Bianchi? Simply Rugged Sourdough style looks like it could be made to fit.
The gun was actually more handsome than any 1911 or Browning HiPower I have ever seen myself. He shared with me that he could group 5 rounds that could be covered with a silver dollar at 20 or so yards. Seemed like a sincere fellow.
Have been pondering using an old shotgun left to me in a trade if I can locate the Lorcin I hope to find. A Browning made overseas, the relative called it Sweet something. Is an odd gauge I have trouble finding. Nobody seems to carry 16 gauge these days. One dealer said nobody shoots 16 gauge any more and offered me $235 for the gun in trade. It has a gold colored trigger.

If you read the second part of the last post it becomes pretty clear that it is a joke. Not a very funny one, but an attempt was made at humor.

I know it's a personal opinion, but the HiPower and 1911 look is so dated . The Lorcin series seems to me to have a modern flair and the silver plate look makes it "pop". And the engraving on the one I held really added to the attraction for me.

Sounds like when I was in the security alarm business. We would send the rookies out to look for a wire stretcher.

Maybe if you can find a couple more of them, you can trade them all for 1 Lorcin.
Or you could throw in another $400-$500 cash for it.

The wire stretcher, or the wall stretcher, the pipe stretcher... or in the Navy you may get asked to sign the emho log.

I've always thought Lorcins were sort of drop-gun territory. Why would anyone want to have one engraved?

Arkansas I like the way you think and approach these things. For what it's worth I've Been trying to find a lightweight J- frame 44 Special without luck either.

Lorcin? $800? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! :scrutiny:

Tallbald, if you have any other useless guns laying around like an old M1, a Colt Python or maybe an original German Luger that may sweeten the pot where you don't have to add any cash to the deal. Just a thought.

Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. That being said, I'm not trading my Hi-Power for a Lorcin anytime soon.

This is the least creative trolling episode I've seen yet.

An "engraved lorcin" is a euphemism for one that's had a 6lb shop hammer taken to it

I would think engraving a Lorcin would be a lot like carving soap figurines in prison.

I can shoot the wings off a gnat at 300 yards with a Cricket .22.

Does that seem like a sincere statement? Because what he's claiming is tantamount.

If you got a couple of those, I'll give you $250.00 each for them...if they're in REALLY nice condition.

I've been thinking of making a matching set of lamps. ;)

I'm still trying to figure out if tallbald is serious or kidding/trolling.

The browning shotguns are worth much more than a Lorcin, at least in fair market value.
Of course, the value of any particular gun, is whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
But seriously, it's a Lorcin. Yeeesh.

My questions have become contentious for some, so I'll just leave it alone from here and continue my quest for an ornamental Lorcin, gun of my dreams. Sorry for the bother. We all have our own personal wishes and desires, and I suppose should pursue what we desire regardless of others slings and arrows, as long as we hurt nobody in our pursuit.
