Does storing hunting ammo loose cause issues?

I'm seriously think about stacking them in nice, even layers.

I read that a .30 cal can holds approximately 320 rounds of .308 when tossed in randomly. I imagine I can get 400 to maybe 450 in there if I neatly stack them. It wouldn't take too much time to do.
I've seen where someone used cardboard as dividers. Lay down a few layers, then lay in a piece of cardboard, then lay in a few layers. Layer it like lasagna.
You can more easily keep track of how many rounds are remaining if you write on the layers as you stack.

Personally, I don't do bulk pack. I use the plastic flip top boxes from MTM or Cabelas.

If I were to do long term bulk storage, I would look into these cardboard ammo boxes.

I've seen Winchester do the same thing in their 100(?) round .45 ACP FMJ ammo boxes. Seems like a pretty solid idea.

I'll may do a little test run by putting a couple dozen in loose and gently agitating the can every once in a while - maybe move the can from one end of the house to the other every week or so. I can check back after a few months and inspect the tips and shoot some groups. If it negatively affects anything I'll likely just stack them in neatly, maybe with cardboard layers.

The cardboard boxes are a neat idea, but at that point I may as well just use the boxes I already have. My intention is to remove the box and sleeve from the equation to maximize the amount if rounds I can get in the can.

For all my bulk loads I use vac sealed plastic in quantities that are the same as the mags I use, recently I saw someone else who did the same but made them the length of a ammo box, I think the next time I reload bulk I will try that
