I've been using the 243 Win model up until now to search load potential, and I was wondering if the latest update includes the 6mm Creedmore cartridge. Thanks!

I just installed the January 2018 data update and 6mm Creedmoor is there. It might have been in an earlier version also, but I hadn't checked before.

'6mm Creedmoor Hornady' is in QL3.8 (even before the 3.9 update)

CLIMBnJUMP... what does the 2018 update add to the mix that you've noticed?

Are you sure? I have 3.8 and it has 6.5mm Creedmoor Hornady but not 6mm Creedmore Hornady.

Have they added 800-X propellant yet?

You are both correct. There is some confusion regarding QuickLOAD updates. There are version updates, e.g. 3.8. and 3.9 etc, and there are data updates. The data updates don't have version numbers but have release dates such as the January 2018 release that I referred to. (And it appears that they sometimes add data to the update even after the release date.)

So, depending on the date that you purchased either v3.8 or v3.9, 6mm Creedmoor may or may not be included. But if you purchase the latest data update and apply it to either v3.8 or 3.9, you will have 6mm Creedmoor.

And no, I didn't see 800-X in the powder list. I'm not sure why, but there are some powders that have been out for quite some time that have not been included in the past or in the current. The Alliant "Power Pro" series comes to mind - non of them are included even though some of the newer powders in the Alliant Reloader series are. (The Power Pro series powders are manufactured in the US while the Reloader series are manufactured in Europe - not sure if that means anything or not...)

There were some additions to the names of some of the powders in the current data update. Some powder names now have a "*C" or a "*T" (or both) behind their name. The *C indicates that the powder has a copper elimination chemical treatment added while the *T indicates a "temperature stable" powder.

So one note of caution regarding the new release... One powder that I have used in the past - CFE223 - has given very good results in several different .223 Rem loads that I worked up. By very good, I mean that the QuickLOAD predicted velocities are very close - w/i 20 to 30 fps to what I measure with my LabRadar chrono at the range. BUT... The new data update changed one of the burn rate inputs for that powder and now the QL predicted velocity is lower by about 150 to 200 fps depending on the component combinations. I have only checked a couple other powders and there was no change to those. I'm not sure what is up with the CFE 223 data. I have sent an email to the fellow in Germany who wrote the software to see what he can tell me.

QuickLOAD is a great tool, but it is only one tool and you should always remember to cross check your data and results to make sure that it makes sense. And question it if it doesn't.
