Hi folk!

I want to neck up a german 5,6x50 mag to 6mm/.243. I know there is 6mm dies for the rimmed version 5,6x50R - called: "6x50 Scheiring". Those dies makes the 5,6x50R into 6x50R cases. The 5,6x50 mag case is the twin to the 5,6x50R - now I wonder if I could use those dies? that would save me alot of money if thats possible.

As I have understand it the 5,6x50R and 5,6x50 mag is what .308 win is to .307win R.

Don't know about that particular caliber combination, but using rimless cases with rimmed dies but I think it would be possible with the proper shell holder. For example, you can use .45 ACP dies for .45 Auto Rim.

Ok thanks. Yes the right shellholder must be used I guess. I know that Redding 308w dies also is for .307R

So far as I can figure, it would make no difference as long as the right shell holder is used.

If the die is going to give you a desired dimensional characteristic that you can finish with fire forming if necessary, I would say go for it.
