Is it possible to find a QUALITY new AK-47 (all black synthetic stock) that would easily accept a standard red dot sight?

Reliability would also be very important to me.

I just don't know much about AKs and I am not much of a gunsmith.

Thanks!

How much did you want to spend?

The Krebs AKs are reputed to be excellent.

The newer Arsenal AKs are supposed to be similarly good.

Most of the current crop of AKs have the side rail mount, so you should be able to get a mount and install whatever sight you see fit.

Kvar sells several: http://www.k-varcorp.com/scope.html

Hey, THANKS Destructo6!

As for price, I was thinking around $400-$500.

I'll check it out!

You could get an Arsenal AK or one of the VEPRs for that. They are top notch. FAC sells them both, request a free catalog: http://www.gunsnstuff.net/

Any AK with a siderail can have one of the excellent Kobra reddots mounted. http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/bst.html They sell for around $150, Russian military reddot. Or you could get a siderail mount with just a rail on top and install any other sight you want as mentioned above I guess. Something about the Kobra and AK just belong together though...

I agree. The Kobra was made for the Ak and works great. If you want all black furniture (or green) it is readily available and inexpensive.

There are also aftermarket rails that allow you to use a standard red dot if you really want to go that way.
