This Mauser Was on Gunbroker.com here is the seller discription and some pictures.
I am reducing the number of rifles I own and am offering this nice WWII Mauser rifle. This is a Kar 98k 8mm Mauser rifle marked "byf 42" which indicates manufacture in 1942 by the Mauser factory at Oberndorf. I assume this rifle is a Russian capture, though it does not have the typical Russian "X" on the receiver so it may be a Yugoslavian rework. The swastikas on the barrel and receiver have been neatly peened with a single small and unobtrusive indentation. The finish on the rifle is near 100%, but I assume it may have been refinished during rework. My camera has caused the finish in some photos to appear somewhat splotchy, but the finish is smooth and uniform. The bolt is a mis-match and I have used a field gage to check the headspace and the bolt closes only halfway on it so headspace is fine. There is no primer erosion on the bolt face. The rifle has a surprisingly nice stock. Other than the rifle serial number having been applied to the butt there are no blemishes of any significance on it. The stock has what appears to be a shellac finish indicative of the Russians but it is nicely applied. The bore is clean and shiny. The exterior of the rifle is clean and there is no pitting though there is some minor freckling near the peened swastikas. This is a very clean rifle with an excellent appearance and priced at a bargain. It even includes the capture screws! I have posted many photos but will answer any questions about the rifle. The rifle must be shipped to either an 01 or 03 FFL. Lucky winning bidder pays actual postage cost. Payment must be received within ten days of the close of the auction. *** BONUS *** If the rifle is purchased using the Buy-It-Now option I will include a FREE front sight hood!!
Does this sound Like a good buy for $250?
