Just asking. I was at Carters Country Outdoor Range in Spring, Texas. They only allow use of slugs at the 20 yd line. No buckshots allowed, period. Then for the skeet area, they only allow use of birdshots from 7 1/2, 8 and 9 . NO higher than that. Why is that so? Im sure some here are from Houston area. Kind of limited as I was planning to shoot buckshots to pattern my new Remy 870 HD soon. Wonder if most indoor range allow shotguns from slugs to buckshots to burdshots.

Thanks

the indoor range near my home allows a select few to shoot and do what we want but not everone, and when we do things that aren't allowed for the general population we do it after closing time. we can use shotguns, select fire weapons, do drills and such.

I havn't been there in a while, but the 59 gun range (59 north, between Tidwell and Hopper on the southbound side) used to let me shoot whatever I wanted to.

They don't like it when you spray other people's targets with birdshot, but buck is cool...

I used to shoot buckshot at the Sportsman's Outlet in Humble, but that's been kinda hard to do since the fire...

My club (outdoor range) doesn't appreciate shotguns on paper targets. I pattern once in a while, that's one thing, but the cops and mall ninjas that run around tearing up the target boards at 25 yards with loads of buck shot usually firing at 15 or less are not appreciated. I work on the crews occasionally (volunteer) that rebuild the target boards and there's much cussing of shotgun shooters on work days, LOL. Really, shotguns are for flying targets. BUT, since the land is city (we rent it for a dollar a year and built/maintain the range), the cops go out there and tear them up more than members, so there ain't much we can do about it. I guess the cops need their shotguns in this one horse town since none of 'em can hit a damned thing with a Glock.

Skeet ranges usually limit the size of shot to 7 1/2 or smaller to limit the range that the shot will travel. Must not upset the neighbors with unexpected lead "rain".
