I'm not even sure the offense rises to the level of a suspension. The point is that there was no punishment at all.

If I accidentally forgot I had a gun in my briefcase and walked into a court building with it, I would be willing to bet I would not get the same "just a simple mistake" treatment.

cop forgetting her gun

She was prob taking a dump and the dispatcher was calling her to see if she was clear to take a call. That happened to me all the time.I also think that she was prob not wearing a duty belt but maybe a holster on the pants and maybe she took the gun out so her pants would not lay on the floor in that puddle of piss thats usually there?Anyways, any chance we can go back to talking about guns again in the near future?

According to the cited article:
The officer's weapon and duty belt
were left on top of a tissue dispenser in a stall.

Is there a puddle of piss in front of woman's toilets too?

I wonder what kind of a TP dispenser would be large enough to set a gun and a duty rig on top of? I would hang mine from the TP dispenser sometimes. Mostly I took the belt and gun off and locked it in the office before I headed to the men's room if I needed to sit.

And the reality is, the gun is simply a tool. Quit making it into a magic talisman as though misplacing a firearm is the most heinous mistake in the world.

I agree with that statement, but local laws and the law where Lt Forgothergun may think otherwise.

If I, Joe D Citizen, can get arrested, charged, & punished for leaving a loaded firearm & accessories in a courthouse toilet, I want Lt Duhmhasse to reap the same consequences.

To do otherwise is obnoxious and contemptible.

That sounds fair, but life is not always fair.

Is there a puddle of *urination* in front of woman's toilets too?

Probably not, but women's toilets are far more germ ridden than men's toilets. (Not dirtier, men's are dirtier, but women's tend to have more bacteria and viruses. I beleive the theory is due to the fact women have to spend more time in the bathroom than men.)

please cite a source for this grand statement.
