Domestic Violence and CCW??

Agreed. There is a world of difference between merely possessing a firearm and also having the skill and willingness to use it.

The public health statistics are clear and unambiguous - women are far more likely to be the victim of gun crime when a gun is around

Can't argue with that logic. Nicely self serving. A woman can't be the victim of any "gun crime" when a gun isn't around. But she can be brutally murdered, as in this instance - and she's a lot less likely to be able to defend herself successfully against a stronger attacker without a gun.

Let's turn that one around....

"The public health statistics are clear and unambiguous - women are far more likely to be the victim of gun crime when a gun is around "
*********************************************************

Not if the woman is in possession of the gun and has the resolve to use it to defend herself with!

*********************************************************
"It's exceptionally rare that women are saved by packing,..."
*********************************************************

I take exception to that statement.
Care to compare statistics, joeSmith?

In many cases of male vs. female aggression, a firearm in the hands of a competent female is all that will save her.

*********************************************************
"but all too frequent they become gun victims of domestic violence."
*********************************************************

Certainly NOT because the woman is in possession of a firearm.
Because a male, almost without exception her husband or present or former intimate, is callously and cowardly using a gun against her.

A cell phone is of no use in this situation, other than to alert the authorities where to find the body and begin the investigation.

*********************************************************
"It's far more likely that the monster (the monster she enabled) would have taken the gun from her and killed some of the children while he was on his rampage."
*********************************************************

This statement suggests that joeSmith has little or no experience of firearms, especially the danger involved in attempting to disarm someone with a firearm.

Certainly if a woman chooses to use the most efficient means of arming herself, she must determine to have the resolve to use that means if and when necessary.

If she is so resolved, the attacker will far more likely become the injured party. And rightly so.
