I know, 80's ballad but it applies. I had a house fire and lost several of my guns, they all meant a ton to me but the one that meant the most was my Speedmaster 22. My dad gave it to me when I was a little lad, me and that gun went through thousands of rounds and killed hundreds of beer cans, squirrels, armadilloes etc etc...........shedding tears right now. Is it wrong to have such feelings for a gun? I'd cut my right arm off to have my speedmaster back...... What is your favorite childhood gun??

Sorry to hear your news. I lost lots of my father's gun collection to theft and fire. Still have some of the recovered burned rifles and pistols. Probably an old Colt SA Army that my brother and I used to shoot together, but maybe the old pump action .35 Remington, or the Stevens Child's rifle, the Springfield 30-06, or my Savage .22 singleshot. Lots of memories lost. I have replaced some of them but they are not quite the same.

You mean 1970.
And I thought this thread was going to be about a parking lot...with a gun in it. ;)

Seriously though, I had a lever action .22 I miss. But I wouldn't cut off my right arm to get it back, since I shoot righthanded.

Cinderella August 1988, 12 weaks on the charts. Great Rock ballad back in the Big Hair Rock days. sorry about your loss. Happy you still have fond memories of time with your father

OK. Cinderfella. My mistake.
I mistook "what cha" for "what you've"
My sympathies to Mike2 and my apologies to everyone.

Been there and done that:(. Watched $500,000 in assorted collectables go up in flames.:what: Got the kids out and lost everything else. It can all be replaced and the memories live on. Keep what you can and replace what you are able.

One of your first purchases needs to be fire safes for all the important papers then fireproof gun safes for lots of other things. Not 100% guaranteed, but close. Very saddened to hear of your losses. Recovering is a PITA. :banghead:
