Don't understand how people hate guns

It falls under fear and lack of understanding. I recently brought my daughter to the range. She was a little scared because her mom had always made guns seem like a bad thing.

I gave her the full safety lecture and let her start with a .22, after firing she wanted to try the 9 and loves shooting.

Talk with the truly anti-gun people and you will find that most have never fired one and are fearful of them based on the media over reporting of ever bad thing that happens with talking about the millions of rounds fire every month for sport and fun.

In my experience, people who say they hate guns are like people who say they hate Indian food; they just haven't tried the real thing.

These guys threw a lot of lead--I hope they collected all that brass!

If your gun experience is several dead family members, bullets through the house walls, fearing to walk home at night because of the thug with a gun. Then your opinion will be different.

Nice video though.

Thanks for all the replies and comments, great day of throwin lead for sure.

It is so true in that most people I find who hate/fear guns have never shot or been properly trained on how to use them.

Hillbillyz, your comment puzzles me. Sounds like a new neighborhood may be in order. Remember, guns need an operator to work ;-)

Seems to me such a person would be the most interested in lawfully having a gun. After all, the things you describe are being done by people who are breaking the law and will keep on breaking the law until they are stopped by force.

Simply being afraid of guns will never change the situation you described, but having a way to fight back will.

Don't understand how people hate guns

It's simple. They are afraid of them yet here in NJ I've personally observed hoplophobic soccer moms work up a snoot full of Merlot by mid-afternoon then take off in the SUV to pick up the kiddies. Her, I'm afraid of.

Simple-mineded people fear what they don't understand.

Even highly intelligent folks fear what they don't understand, or if they've been raised and taught that fear. Lots of intelligent folks are scared of mice, bats and harmless snakes for no good reason. Lots of intelligent folks fear other religions and folks with different ethnic backgrounds. After greed, this is probably the second most common reason we have wars. Sometimes the fear may come from an experience in life. I know a coupla long time hunters that gave up guns after witnessing a hunting accident. I know folks that I used to hunt with as a kid that came back from war and never owned a gun again. There's a myriad of reasons for folks to fear guns...while most are not, some are legitimate. Calling these folks simple-minded just because of that fear is evidence of a simple mind itself.

"When I'm out here climbing mountains and shooting guns, it's Cliff Bar, or nothing else." :D

That's an awesome video, what are you using for sound? The audio is perfect.

Totally this for most anti-gunners, however some people can't separate crime and guns and refused to realize that it's the person who committed the crime not the firearm. Some individuals genuinely believe that if firearms are not present, than people will be less influenced to commit crime, or war. lol

Gun have demonized since their inception (People in the middle ages thought they were evil black magic) and will continued to be demonized until humanity crates something more efficient and less understood than guns, than that will be demonized.

Gun have demonized since their inception (People in the middle ages thought they were evil black magic) .

The white-man and the introduction of his "firestick" to Native Americans is a prime example of this. But then one only needs to consider what happened to Custer at The Little Bighorn to see what education and appreciation can do to reverse that fear.

I completely understand hatred for guns...

I just don't want someone else's hatred or fear to be a deciding factor in my acquisition, ownership or use.

I feel much the same way about Pit Bulls as many anti-gunners feel about firearms but I take my lumps and expect accountability and responsibility on the part of Pit owners. I would never consider enforcing an overall ban/registration on them as I live in a free society and expect those owners to do the right thing in breeding, training, supervision and public use of the dogs. When things don't work out and A Pit (or a couple) raise some harm, I remember it's that/them and not all causing the bleeding.

So, hatin' guns? Yeah I get it, just don't deny me the firearm out of a personal perspective relative to their potential harm in society.

Yep BulletArc47, antis can’t separate crime and guns. Many criminals have guns; you have a gun? therefore ... you must be criminal. It’s so sad that antis are quick to throw out the whole Bill of Rights when it comes to gun owners. I hear calls for warrant-less gun inspections, gun storage inspections, psych evaluations, “may issue” permits / licensing and mandatory liability insurance. All infringements for a constitutionally protected right; the second one written nonetheless. So, if you want to have the right to own a firearm, you give up the other nine rights.

Here in Germany, unfortunately, many people connect crime with guns and there are quite a bunch of them thinking that you folks in the States are ignorant not to realize that the source of violence, killing sprees and high crime rates must be - of course - guns.

I think that's a reason of not willing to investigate into the subject, because searching for social reasons etc is much more laborious. It's easy, to blame guns.
When there were shootings at several schools in Germany, they tried to blame violent video games, searching for a reason why those kids went mad and claiming stricter laws to protect the youth from such evil things. And of course, there were demands for stricter gun laws. As if we haven't rigorous ones before...

Ignorance is the problem

I'm not going to call anybody flatout stupid or simple minded but the fact is most anti-gunners (most being operative) have never seen a firearm outside a policeman's holster or outside of an action movie which contributes greatly to the ignorance on the subject. They think anything that looks like the AR-15 or AK-47 has the ability to spit 500 rounds or more per minute and can easily destroy a car with a single magazine. They lack knowledge and experience which is key. When I was first learning to drive I was scared to death of it, and now over two years later I'm a great driver (though I do have lead foot syndrome :neener:) because I am versed and experienced. A few of my friends/acquaintances still don't have their licenses and are 18 or 19 years old, why? Well some are just lazy, some of them are being forced to wait by their parents, but a few of them are scared of driving because of lack of experience. I've offered them advice on the subject but some of them are still really scared of it. I guess the most ironic part is one of my friends that is in the last group loves guns and he is a crack shot, let me tell you. The dude can stack 50 shots in the ten ring from 15 yards with almost any pistol you put in his hands but he is terrified of driving...go figure.

Experience and knowledge (like the Truth) will set you free.

The hate is reserved for Americans who exercise and are knowledgeable about their constitutional rights and are even considered a threat to law enforcement and potential domestic terrorists.
