I have summed my choices down to two, and would like to hear some opinions of people that have the experience with them.

I want it mostly for CQ while not sacrificing the ability for mid range shooting. I don't like a magnifier, just keeping it simple.

My two choices are between the leupold mark 4 cq/t and the eotech 553 something

the things i like about the leupold- it works without batteries, it can magnify, and it is leupold (I have trusted leupold on my hunting rifles and binocs for years)

now about the eotech- its battery life is longer (which is what i like about the cqt is that in daylight you dont need battery to use it), its 1moa dot would make it easier to shoot at 100 some odd yards even without magnification.

perhaps the deciding factor for me is can the leupold be used to cowitness good with BUIS?

any and all opinions is greatly appreciated. I'm pretty open to suggestions.
oh, money isn't a factor btw

yeah it's a hard choice.
and for the price of a few milsurps, I want to make the best one.
I am really leaning towards the leupold ONLY if it can cowitness, but i can't find anything at all on the net about that.

The CQT isn't a true 1x, so a cowitness is probably out. I haven't tried cowitnessing a 1.1x, 1.25x etc. though so I couldn't say. In any case, the size of the CQT (and extremely limited eye relief at 3x) is probably not going to let you deploy an iron sight behind it and still have the scope in a good position for use.

Having said that, consider your use. The purpose of a cowitness is to provide quick back up if the optic fails. The CQT uses an etched reticle so it cannot fail like an EOtech. The only way it can become unusable is for the glass to be broken or obscured. If that occurs, a cowitness will not help since you will still need to ditch the optic. The cowitness makes sense on the Eotech where your reticle will disappear completely if there is an electrical problem or batteries die. On the CQT, there is no advantage to it.

I like my Eotech, and it sorta-kinda looks like a huge ghost-ring when it's off. Good enough for really close shooting, I suspect.

If you are looking for mainly CQB stuff I'd recommend going with the EOTech. I find that with mine I can hit things (Torso Size) fairly well up to about 250 yards. I find that the Leupold doesn't have enough illumination for the CQB stuff while it's good for moderate ranges. You may want to look at the Meopta Meostar 1-4 or for a cheaper budget the Millet DRS-1.
