\ S&W 625 5" Bbl. .45 ACP & .45 Auto Rim
S&W 617 6" Bbl. .22 LR 10 Shot Cyl.

I got these two about a month apart from a
Gun Emporium going out of business. They are
both 45 oz. with full underlug Bbl. The K-frame
is more muzzle heavy, but close in balance THe
sighting radius is about 1/2" more than the N-frame
with the 5" Bbl.

U usually go through 50-100 rounds with the .22
Single Action(SA) slow fire, then slow Double Action (DA)
& settle into DA Double Taps. Of course there's the
obligatory 10 shot empty the gun... Target is a man
sized silhouette.

Same routine with the 625 with 12-15 full moon clips
pre-loaded of .45 ACP & also have .45 Auto RIm with
several hundred rounds of 200 gr. Leadhead SWC @
1,025 FPS. Win WB .45 ACP and/or Blazer with bras
cases, as I sack and segregate expended brass as I
de-moon it later. 84 rounds this last saturday along
with two of the AR in HKS speedloaders The box of AR
didn't make it to the range bag. Accurate but dirty load.

Nice semi-matched pair, functionally, the 625 has HOgue
finger grooves/checkered full profile Rosewood grips. WIth the
little recoil of the 617 & the small cartridge, I got HOgue full
profile K/L in Coco Blolo wood, white spacer and dark red/black
butt cap. The 625 N-frame DA trigger stroke is longer and
practice helps for the complete reset. Unlike the 625 with i'ts
S&W PC Master Revovler Action job the 617 K-frame
is stock but smooth and a shorter stroke.

Target had a couple of spots I could almost get my
arm through w/o tearing the paper.
