Any recommendations for a QUALITY old school gunsmith who is not afraid to make parts for an antique German double rifle?

This job will require manufacture of a metric screw and a spring, and will be performed on a rifle worth five figures. In addition I will need the bore slugged, a chamber cast done, and identification of the chamber and bore made.

This is not a job for bubba the AR-15 "builder" who calls himself a gunsmith, but for a real Gunsmith.

References and a review of similar work done previously will be required. Prior experience on high grade shotguns would be a very close analog of the action work needing to be done here. In a prior part of my life I worked as a smith myself and could have done the work, but now I do not have shop access or time. I know enough to sort out the poseurs from the real deal, but need some references to skilled smiths to start with.

Anyone?

Thanks,

Willie

Thanks. Not an unexpected choice. I've bought double rifles from Champlins in the past. They were on my short list to investigate. Thanks for the confirmation.

Thanks guys. New England was also on my list. I'll be calling JJ as I've a prior relationship with Champlins.

Dixie Gun Works.

When I worked in the industry we sent a number of antique guns to him. They always made good matching parts, often with some improvement in design too.
