Does any one make a reliable double stack 9mm 1911...Para once made the P18 but I don"t see that on their site anymore...and it reviews were not that great...So that being said does any other company make a Hicap (double stack ) 9mm 1911

RIA makes a P18 "clone" called the 1911-A2 which is the base gun for their .22 TCM -- they even offer it as a two caliber kit with 9mm and TCM barrels and recoil springs -- which may be the only way to get one at the moment.

The main issue is the mags -- their length is the dimension of .45ACP rounds (same basic frame as the P14) so you can have feed issues from the shorter OAL of 9mm loads.

I've had great results with the 17 round Mec-Gar magazines, 2 of the 6 Para P18 mags I have ended up downrange as targets after too much frustration with feed failures, the 4 that remain have functioned perfectly.

I've got well lover 15000 rounds through mine. although I don't shoot it much anymore since I got my RIA 9mm Tactical (single stack, fits me better) which has about caught up in round count.

Wilson used to make the Spec Ops 9 on their KZ frame, but it's been discontinued (you might find one used).

That leaves STI 2011's (I don't think we can put the RRA 9mm or the BUL M5 in the 'best' category).

my issue with doublestack 1911s in 9mm, 38 super and other similarly sized cartridge is most of them are built in a frame made to hold a double column 45acp mag so theyre going to be excessively wide.. if i were to do it and funds were unlimited id base it on a caspian double stack frame which is thinner because instead of being designed around a double column 45acp mag, it was designed around a double column 38 super mag, so for a 9mm it will be slimmer, lighter, etc

this would of course require you to build the pistol yourself, but the frame should be compatible with any 1911 slide assembly

Infinity and STI are probably going to be your best. Both have a long track record of proven performance in competition
