^ I don't want to get into a capacity debate, but I'll just file it under the "better to have it and not need it...then need it and not have it" category. Also, if I'm going to the trouble of carrying on the belt/IWB I'll want more what my pocket carry gun (Kahr PM9) holds (6+1).
Don't get me wrong, my Five-seveN is 20+1 plus another mag in my pocket, but I don't carry it because of the capacity. I'd have no problem carrying a 1911 7+1.

I'm just saying that one round shouldn't make a real difference in which gun someone purchases.

Get the M&P, though! You'll be happy with it; I know I am!

How would the Walther P99C (compact) compare to these or the slimmer, single stack PPS? I'm looking at both of these for summer carry, but would also consider a G26 or XD.

I don't have a hard number of bullets I have to have. I have an idea when I look at a carry gun of that is enough or that is not enough. 8+1 9mm is in the not enough category and 12+1 is plenty. I'll carry 10+1 and while I don't feel concerned about it when I carry that, I prefer 12+1. I think the Browning High Power set the standard for having high capacity and nothing has really changed over the years in that respect.

More capacity equals more weight and the reason I want a subcompact is for a lighter, smaller gun.

10 + 1 is PLENTY for me, in fact I am OK with less. Many carry a 5 shot snubby .38, and feel well armed.
