New DPMS Panther 308. In sighting in iron sights (A2 front, ghost ring adjustable rear) at 25 yards the front sight post seems to long. I've got it bottomed out and sill shooting 4" below point of aim at 25 yards. I've got the rear sights set at "Z" so I would think I can zero out at 25 yards. Shots at 100 yards are low as well and my ballistic table shows I need to hit at 4.57 high at 100 yards to have a 300 yard "0".

Should I do the following:
1. buy a shorter sight post.
2. cut the front sight post.
3. figure out how to shoot property as my sight picture must be off.

Any advise guys?

I think my eye and cheek postion is ok. Not shot a 308 AR type gun before but have shot with iron sights a fair amount. Just can't seem to get enough elevation out of the front.

I did look at DPMS website and found out that my front sight is some .03" longer that standard sight, but that really shouldn't make that much difference. Seems like I need to cut about 1/8" off the front.
