Dragunov stock for sks

Hey folks, I live in Commie-fornia and recently acquired a CA legal SKS. I'd like to put on a Dragunov stock, but I'm not quite sure if it would still be CA legal. I don't think it would because the SKS has a 10 round fixed magazine, so the stock wouldn't matter, right? However, does the Dragunov stock classify as a "pistol grip" stock...CA's rules and regs can get confusing. Does anybody know for sure?

From what I understand yes you just have to leave the 10 round fixed mag, and play the federal 922r game. The big problem with modifying sks's was the bayonet lug, which was part of the 1994 federal assault weapons ban, but not included in the California ban. Since the federal ban is over you are good to go "I think".

The calguns.net forum is a good resource for this kind of stuff (and there's a flowchart!) but the basic rule is a centerfire rifle with detachable magazine and any evil feature (pistol grip, bayonet lug, etc) triggers the assault weapon status.

But dude, have mercy on your poor SKS and leave its wood attached .

Alright cool, thanks! I'll have to check out the calguns website you suggested. I wouldn't have even thought about swapping stocks, but my brother gave me the Dragunov stock, so I figured...what the heck, let's give it a try!
