First post . I have been reloading for many years , but now have changed from a classic lock n load to a lock n load ap . Have been familiarizing myself with the new press through this website . Ordered a glass hopper from dram worx . It won't thread on more than one turn . On closer look , the threads look like crap . Checking to see if anyone that is using one of these can let me know if this is normal from dram worx . IMG_20210628_153142211.jpg

Page two . Ward from dram worx called . Hornady has changed the thread pattern . He said he is working on a fix and will send me a new one asap . Quick response from him and I appreciate that . Looks like a quality product , hope I can get one to thread on vs setscrew .

Glad to hear that Dram Worx was pro-active in fixing the problem.

But, FYI, there are tools available that will chase the threads and get them back to usable condition, They kind of look like a file but with teeth that match the thread per inch of the threads to be chased. Most of the thread chasers will repair several different thread per inch threads.

Of course, with normal bolt sizes, standard tap and dies can be used to chase threads to repair them.

Ward @ DramWorx has been great to work with. I had one with a small crack and he replaced sight-unseen. I have four of them going in my reloading room (3 Dillon's and a Lee)

we use these in the shop all the time they are sold at the napa i work at part # 2229 napa service tool i would think all napas would be able to get there hands on one

Placed an order after reading a few recommendation references on this site. Recently received the three I ordered for my RCBS Uniflo standards. Quality looking upgrades that fit well and hold more powder than the cheesy factory plastic. If there's a downside, I don't see it.

Do these help with the static making powder stick? Been using dryer sheets, but would be nice to leave my powder set up and not have it stick to the hopper.

Welcome to THR!
For some reason I thought I had checked these glass hoppers out a while ago and found them to be to dram expensive. Maybe I feel richer these days since I just looked and didn’t think they were outrageous. I do like the idea of glass, it’s just that I have that glass breaking gene. Good luck!

I haven't had static cling to the hopper with the Drams I have. Even longshot doesn't stick to the one on my 10mm toolhead.

I also flitz+dremel polish all the internals of the Dillon and dust with graphite. Drops are more consistent than I expected possible from a volumetric powder measure.

I got the larger hopper for both my Hornady LnL AP and my Chargemaster Lite. Love both of them and they worked great. And I bugged the crap out of Wade trying to get the LnL hopper OFF to install his. He was helpful through all aspects of the ordering and supporting.

I don’t see the need. The only advantage I would think is the ability to leave powder in the hopper with out the risk of eventual hopper damage. I don’t normally leave powder in that long. Not discounting the greater volume size for high count reloaders.
IMO it’s just the a “ better mouse trap” syndrome with many after market products.

Cost has never been a limiter for me but breakage of the glass is.

I cannot ever remember dropping a powder measure but with my relationship with Mr. Murphy, I'd probably start.

Someday, I'll give one a try.

My plastic one was cracked and no matter what I tried, the static charge was making the kernels cling to the hopper and I really didnt like the idea of the static discharge touching off a hopper full of a fast burning pistol powder.

Just received a update from ward at dramworx . He has the new base to fit my lock n load ap . He said it is a perfect fit . I bought this press in June of this year , not sure when hornady changed the thread pattern . I'm amazed that he was able to manufacture the new base so quickly . Can't wait , no more dryer sheets , no more static cling .
