This is a project over a year in the making. Its almost done!! Everything is legal.

Specs:
RRA lower consecutively numbered to my DMR build.
RRA LPK with KNS pins.
Obligatory Magpul treatment.
Spikes 10.5" upper and bolt.
Aimpoint Comp 4.
Yankee Hill Stainless 7.62 Phantom. (QD)
Blackhawk sling and mount. (for now)

This will be my only railed AR. I am leaning towards a Daniel Defense Lite. Either a 10" or rifle length. I am wondering about shooting a 10.5" barrel under rifle length free float without the suppressor . Any thoughts?

I am welcome to suggestions and criticisms. But if you say it sucks you have to tell me why.

Thanks
Mot

p.s. For those who care pistol is a FNP-45

I am thinking you'll have a real hard time getting a 7.62 suppressor to mount if the rail system is longer than the barrel since I would guess the outer diameter of the 7.62 suppressor exceeds the inner diameter of most rails.

I also don't understand why you would want a rail that exceeded the barrel length. The worst case scenario is you stick something on the rail (your hand, a flashlight, optics or sighting gear) in front of the muzzle of the gun and it gets struck by a bullet. That is probably unlikely; but it is theoretically possible.

However, a more likely scenario is you stick your hand, flashlight or gear on the rail forward of the muzzle and the hot expanding gases exiting from the muzzle and venting through the rail does a number on hand, flashlight, etc.- and if you can't place anything forward of the muzzle, why have the extra weight?

Fine looking setup, sir.

Question: Is the caliber in 7.62? I read the descrip for the YH stainless, what is that?

Excelent point. I was thinking of shrouded look (the barrel thing that goes up) but function is way more important than looks. Thank you for pointing that out. The suppressor O.D. is 1.5" same as 5.56 can.

The SBR is 5.56. The suppressor is 7.62. I got this as my first suppressor to multi-task my AR-10, AR-15's, FN PBR and AK. My PBR only has a 18.5" barrel that is factory threaded to 5/8"X20. I didnt want to cut it any shorter and Yankee Hill was the only company who would make a mount to that thread pitch.

Also how bad is a short barrel with a muzzle brake? Thinking about getting the brake mount to act as a sacrificial baffle on the short barrel.

That is a good lookin' carbine. I'm kinda partial the Troy TRX-E forearms, they are light and you don't have unnecessary cheese grater all over your weapon.

Depends on the brake but in general the more effective it is the louder it will be. Ive got a DNTC mounted on a 11.5" and it is OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD and I can feel concussive force all over my body and it leaves unburnt powder on my arms.

Thank You

Also thinking about the VLTOR VIS. Anyone got one of these?

I was wondering if you were going to chime in lol! Yeah, the old dread pirate and I share last names. I decide to leave out the lettering, as I bear no ill will towards the Barbarians and Martinicans.

The sad thing was I forgot city and state, so I had a trophy shop with a diamond engraver attempt it.....it didn't work out so well, but at least I'm legal.
