Can the Sig P220 thru 229's be dry fired with out damage to the firing pin or internal works? Just got a 229 and getting used to the trigger pull by doing some dry firing and wondered if I should not be doing that to much.

I have always been told you can dry fire a Sig, but if your still concerned get some snap caps an fire away till your hearts content.

We dry fired bunches at the SigAcademy classes I took. They taught us a dry firing drill, called the wall drill, to improve trigger control.

The manual states that dry firing is ok as well.

I dry fire both my 228 and 220ST quite a bit and they both still go bang when real ammo is loaded.

My 228's DA pull went from good to excellent after 4 or 5 hundred dry fires.
