I want to get a shoulder holster for my 1858 8" and I shoot right handed.

I haven't tried one on, but have seen some nice holsters online that will work.

Question - I want to draw/shoot with my right hand, so I would want the revolver located under my left arm.

I see that left/right versions are offered for sale, but I never know what "left / right" they are referring to...

help?? thanks

It better mean which hand you use to draw the gun with.
Or they are going to get a lot of returns!

If you are right handed, you want to order a right hand shoulder holster.
It will hang on your left side.

excellent - thank you.

any one have suggestions on a good fitting brand of shoulder holsters to use when hunting, with it under my coat (backup to my .50 cal)?

I have seen some real nice leather Western holsters, but for this purpose I want something that works well and is comfortable - not for show.

I have seen some for $35-40... any feedback? I'm will to spend more for something better, but not seeing much out there that looks like it was meant for hunting.
