Here is my Tandy Leather double cross-draw shoulder holster rig, with Triple K waist belt and Hickock holsters. The holsters fit 1851 Navys and 1858 NMAs, maybe 1860 Armys too. The front and back pics show how I set them up for vertical draw. The bottom strap secures the rig to the waist belt on each side.

Looks good Elhombre!! It looks like the revolvers are carried butt forward is that correct?

I like the shoulder holsters as they take a lot of weight of the waist making either a 1 or 2 gun carry with fully charged revolvers manageable, especially on long treks. :)

I didn't know Tandy still existed.

Gun butts forward works for me, histeriacally accurate or not. I cant see how you could mount these for a right or left hand draw otherwise. Wait till ya see the back-mounted holster that fits on this harness for my Baker sxs shorty bp shotgun.:D
I originally worked this up for Grand Army of the Frontier shooting to carry two cb revolvers in a shoulder holster and two on the waist belt as there is reportedly no limit on the number of pistols or cylinders carried on ones person to engage targets in GAF skirmish style shooting. Even with the weight of the 4 revolvers, it is quite manageable and confortable, but I am adding wider heavy leather shoulder pads to distribute the weight a bit more.

I'm getting a little more traditional in my rig also. Just bought this from Dell's Leather Works,

http://dellsleatherworks.com/shoulderholsters.htm

My fully charged 1860 Army was simply too heavy to walk through cornfields and woods while varmint hunting and I had to switch from a belt mounted holster from Track of the Wolf.

This one,

This holster from Dell's is nice, right out of the box its was very soft and pliable leather and after one application of Neatsfoot oil it really is what I was looking for mounted on my left side butt forward. Plus they're frontier period correct to the last detail. :)

Hmmm, I don't know. Seems strange that they would even offer that option, though.

"Grand Army of the Frontier shooting" Elhombre, how strict is this organization for historical accuracy??? When I shot for the Westmoreland Rifles, if you wore period dress the shooter would get 10 points added to his target score on the aggregate right off the bat. That is a hard deficit to overcome for a shooter that is not in period dress.

I haven't attended a shoot yet, because I haven't acquired a single shot main battle rifle or replica of one yet. The GAF is main battle rifle and reasonably accurate uniform impression centric. I could still use my impression of a post ACW Texas Ranger in Federal service against "hostiles" using a Trapdoor rifle or carbine, Sharps cartridge carbine or rifle in the Scout class, or a single or sxs shotgun in the Forager class (thus my interest in the single shot Zulú shotgun). Both of these classes allow the use of unlimited numbers of charged cb revolvers carried on ones person or staged. Capping is done on the clock for reloads, if you have enough charged pistols/cylinders to engage all the pistol targets.

We were timed also when shooting in the aggregate, "Taking your time in a hurry" was the motto. It was interesting that the slightest rule could effect your shooting at these competitions. All off-hand shooting so the swamped barreled customs, not the only reason of course but a decided advantage while off-hand shooting, won handily against the heavier barreled 'factory' rifles.
