First time posting in this area, so I hope this is the right place. I recently started my first Duracoat project and cane to a screeching halt when the bead blaster on base broke. I have two shotguns that really need to be put into the whiye before I duracoat them ( surface rust, they are project guns). I am down here on leave until Saturday visiting my wife (also active Navy) before I have to head back north for continued workups. I really want to get this done asap, as these will be the families home defense guns. If anyone can provide some assistance or guidance I would greatly appreciate it. Auto hobby shop does not have a bead/sand blaster and I've come up empty everywhere else. Again, any assistance is greatly appreciated!

You don't need a bead blaster. A green scratch pad and WD 40 will remove the rust, the degrease, bake the parts for 15 minutes, rub with isopropyl alcohol, and paint.

Surface prep is everything. Do that right and you'll have a real job done. Screw that up and you'll have regrets. No regrets, brother.

Thanks!

HK, greatly appreciate it. That process will work for one shotgun great and I'll give it a try. The other has a crap paint job (previous owner spray painted and I had to save it...) so I'm hoping it will work for it as well. May have to use paint thinner or something stronger in certain places. Again, thanx and I'll post pics when I'm done.
