So yesterday I carried my M&P .40 as I normally do, IWB with my Comp-tac MTAC holster. However my dress yesterday was different than normal. On an average day its jeans and a T-shirt, but yesterday it was black BDU's and a golf shirt instead. When I took my gun off at the end of the day there was a TON of lint/ dust on the gun mainly on the trigger and the slide release.

It did not appear to be enough to hinder operation of anything but it was concerning enough that I gave the gun a good wipe down with a dry lint free cloth at the end of the day.

I have heard many times that dust can be attracted by too much oil but I am normally pretty light with the CLP and have not oiled my guns recently.

Any other ideas on what could cause the excess dust? Should I be worried about it or is a good wipe down enough to prevent issues.

Mine rubs against my shirt and gets pretty linty. I just go out to the garage and blow it off with the air hose.

It's the golf or polo shirt.

Those polo style shirts work great for CCW, I wear them a lot. The material, however, abrades easily and the result is dust bunnies in your piece. One reason I have a somewhat religious zeal for cleaning my CCW every week, whether fired or not. It's also a reason to plan on buying new shirts every year or so. Even with a half dozen to rotate through, they'll get holes where the grips and angles of the pistol rub.
