Duty belt and holster for HD handgun?

I saw a thread not long ago where another member here(I think) had a duty belt setup for his HD hang gun. It got me thinking that there might be some scenarios in which having a belt with a holster a extra mag and a flash light might be nice so I dug through my extra gear and set one up.

The gun is my beretta 92fs and the gear is stuff I used as an MP in the Navy so I have practiced and trained with. After I got the belt setup I though why didn't I do this sooner I don't have to use the belt but it keeps the my extra mags and extra flashlight handy and if I do want to use a holster I can throw this rig on fast.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone else here does this or if anyone would recommend against it. It's just me and my wife in our house no kids so I don't worry about the gun being unlocked and when we are away it gets locked in the safe.

Can you throw it on over a bathrobe, and can you draw without the belt being in belt loops? If the answer is yes, good idea.

The answer is yes to both question. I typically sleep in gym shorts s this belt can be easily thrown on over shorts but could also easily be thrown over my normal clothing.

I used to have a Velcro-fastening duty underbelt (the one that a cop wears within the belt loops on his uniform, then clips his "Bat-belt" to with snapping "keepers".)

When I got out of law enforcement and into EMS, I continued to wear it over my jumpsuit at night (which had no belt loops) when toned out on a call. It did just fine carrying my VHF, flashlight (a 4-cell worn on-scene at night), gloves pouch, and my "hero holster", which held other things like a penlight, trauma shears, pens, etc.

Something like that would be perfect for such an application, as it is plenty strong enough to hold a typical HD handgun, spare mag/speedloader, and light, and can be easily donned regardless of attire (or lack of attire!)

Like you, I have considered setting something like this up. Also, like you, when I finally do, I'm going to wonder why I didn't do it before.

I have a old'er Blackhawk belt with a serpa in a low ride mount a blade tech single mag pouch a small blowout kit like we use on our VBSS rigs and a surefire G2

Hey Madwell, my HD setup is a military web belt, mag pouches, M9 holster filled with my Glock 21. Like you, my light, mags and gun are one buckle click and ready to go. Just me and the wife, no kids at home. Perfect setup for me.
