On the one hand,
"I don't see any reason to kill someone over property."
On the other hand, a couple I played volleyball with at my brother's
4th of July party were killed by a carjacker who got their car and $11.
It is not like the old Jack Benny joke "Your money or your life."
Sometimes these sickos want your money and your life for kicks.
And sometimes the robbery is an excuse to kill.
It is not my duty to be a compliant victim anymore. It is the
assailant/intruder's duty to retreat or take the consequences.
I have had my back against the wall by creditors at times that
I was desperate enough that I would have killed to keep
the contents of my wallet, rather than hand it over. When I was
getting a faamily barely by, from paycheck to paycheck, I had
nothing left for "charity" at knife or gun point.
