I've been looking for a DWX Compact. A website called armscenter.org supposedly has them for sale but as a FYI it's a scam. A red flag is them only accepting payment methods for which buyers have no recourse. I reached someone at CZ who confirmed they haven't been released yet with no confirmed date yet, and they'll announce it via social media when they do. He confirmed that a website offering them for sale is a scam.

Well, it is a CZ, kinda.

Good news though. None of the new TS's and Shadow's have red grips. Which are, by far, the best racer color for annodizing out there. So the DWX hasn't been canceled.

My LGS had every single 9mm CZ, and three DW's including a $2100 black 5" Valor.

All of those look better than they've ever been. The new CZ's, even the low buck carry versions, have a real nice finish and sights now.

A few Scammer, guns and ammo sites have popped up in the past year. I am active on another forum that has had multiple scammers hit the classifieds. A couple were offering s&w 15/22 magazines which apparently are difficult to find now. Another couple were advertising shady looking ammo sites and another was trying to sell a gun he probably didn't own. They got weeded out pretty quick

There's definitely scammers out there. A while back (a couple months, maybe) I spotted a couple sketchy ones. Looking at the whois record, both registered at the same time, very recently. And hosted the same place. Same sketchy buy-it-now dialog. Both offering product that either wasn't out yet (the site specializing in Dan Wesson), or hadn't been made in a while (the one selling Taurus stuff).

Caveat Emptor, y'all.

---edit to add---

The ones I know about are https://taurusgunstore.com/ and https://danwessonfirearmstore.com/ .

Muy caveat emptor on those.

That website will disappear in a week or two, and a new one with a different look but the same offers will pop up... They take Bitcoins and other non-refundable payments.

A simple check of these 'pop-up' sites is to grab a paragraph or so of their blog, their 'about us' or other description, and just Google it. You'll find the real site they stole it from pretty quickly.

Back in January Dan Wesson announced they were halting the promotion of this pistol. I wonder if the release of the TS-2 was a factor in this decision. They are pretty similar firearms.

Not any more similar than the TSO that’s been around for years

The ts2 is likely a better pistol than the fullsize DWX. So I'd say it had some reason.

But the big reason is DW is at max capacity. Unless 3 dozen pistolsmith's arrive at their door, we wont see DWX's until a slow down.

You could also say the TSO is a better pistol as well. If the TS2 is, so is the TSO.

Personally I don’t think the Tactical Sport series had anything to do with the DWX’s cancellation / delay.

The TSO has some more collector value since it's the SS barrel hand fitted version.

But this is meaningless when comparing the two. The Ts2 shoots perfectly. The Ts2 also has a different frame shape, a bit more advanced. Higher cut. So for now, I recommend the Ts2 over the TSO. Try to get the .40 version if you can. Only 9mm instock at my LGS.

My thinking is that the fullsize DWX needs a version with an Atlas style sight block, and a magwell. Otherwise it's obsolete already.

The DWX compact......I hope my whole hand fits on it, or it comes in a commander version. From what I've seen of it so far, it's pretty much a modernized 1911 CCW. Superior grip frame, and purpose built for 9mm. Wilson charges $4500+ for such.

The DWX will sell like crazy if or when it ever comes to fruition.

I realize it doesn’t have every feature of the Tactical Sport models, but it does have a uniqueness that the others do not.

That alone will sell it. Plus it looks awesome.

Not just spotted in the wild, but once they actually did release them, they actually did a good job getting them pretty widely available at retail price. Not ubiquitous, since demand will probably outstrip the initial supply, but a heck of a lot better than a "We released the gun and only made 100 of them with no plans to ramp up production until next year so good luck with that."
